Thought I saw a post on this but can't find it. I have a mission with pairs of planes attacking aerostats. At least 50% of the time, feels like a 100% of the time at least one of the two planes rams the aerostat, especially if there are no distractions like other live planes near by. I am running the AI mod, but is this a known problem in the AI logic or a problem with the AI mod being overly aggressive?

I know the AI mod made the AI more willing to plane chicken with opponent aircraft. It might be affects them against ballons, especially with new ballon pull down behavior.

In this mission there are always pairs of fighters and it seems when they come at the balloon from low alt, they have hard time maneuvering away. From high alt they manage to pull up just in time. I need to a do a bit of experimenting with Mods Off to see if that behavior drops off

No such problems with mods off.

Beg to differ Fifi2, just ran the mission Mods Off and had three enemy planes attacking one balloon from three different directions and they went into the balloon, 1, 2 , 3 in a row. Should have recorded it!

Likely I need to do more testing, but there seems to be some target fixation going on.

I have the same trouble with target fixation. I've clipped a few balloons myself! Just need to get a few more bullets in, then I'll veer off--oops

Huh, I've never seen an AI ram a balloon. I've seen them collide with aircraft before, but never balloons.

I will record some and post here. I built a training mission where planes spawn in an area as target. To keep them in the neighborhood I have a Aerostat in the center of the area and once the planes spawn they have a command to attack all air targets in the area. The Aerostat being an air target they attack pretty strongly

Here are a couple clips. Excuse the floating flame pots ( harry potter effect) was a night flying training mission and aided finding the aerostats. I am using the AI mod, but I have run this mods on and mods off and have had the same effect.

Both clips have AI pairs that spawn and chase a waypoint over the aerostat. An attack command triggers before they get close to the aerostat telling them to attack any enemies in the air. The training mission spawns AI pairs to practice against and the aerostat keeps them in the field of play, makes them easy to find.

Unfortunately this is what happens if you don't get there first to distract them!
