Is there anyone on these forums that currently run a system like this? How do you find it? Was it worth the cash for you?

Well word on the street is late July deliveries. So I guess it's time to start buying the gear.

I am running this exact setup with the previous Obutto model, I plan to upgrade to the new one though.

Pictures of that setup can be seen here: Click me!

^Only issue with that setup is it looks like you had to do some custom work, yes?

I'm starting to budget out mine. I figure I'll do something like a 30" screen flanked by twin portrait monitors, like this:
http://www.digitaltigers.com/zenview-powertrioultraelite.asp

I love eyefinity, but three 1080 screens get too stretched at the far edges, and don't offer enough vertical visability in tiles like DCS and RoF. I figure that setup gives the best of all worlds; Enough horizontal view for immersion, and enough verticale for combat

Personally, I'd be looking to use mine for Flying, racing, and general gaming. Biggest Issue I see there is swapping out Saitek combat pedals for my Fanatec set.

The only custom work I've done is cutting the stick holder, cutting and drilling the speaker holders and the wooden backplate. Nothing that can't be done in a motivated afternoon with some basic power tools. If you are on a budget, you might want to consider this, because when the R3volution comes out, the oZone will go down in price even more.

But yes, the pedal space of the new model is far superior and the mounts for basically everything are more flexible. But I still have to figure out yet how to mount my speakers to the R3volution.

Well the 27" monitors arrived this week and they are much bigger then I released, and there's 3 of them! I also have a HP 21.5" 1080p touchscreen for Helios.
At the moment I'm waiting for a ATi 7970HD card to arrive to power them all.

Bring on the r3volution!!!! I need somewhere to hang these things. They are taking up too much room on the desk.

I have the Warthog HOTAS and some Saitek Combat Pedals ready to go.

I will also get a Track IR5 (my TIR4 is on the frits) and a Buttkicker.

Might need to overclock my old i7 920 CPU as she's been stock for the last 2+ years.

Got mine up at 4.3 and rock solid!! It's a cracking chip! Was going to upgrade to an Ivy Bridge but there isnt really a major perf increase. Going to wait for the 4th gen i7!!

R3volution Pre-order paid for and ready to go. Got myself a Buttkicker and a Track IR5 for a bit of fun. Gonna be a long month of waiting I think.

Well the best I can do on overclocking the i7 with a Zalman aftermarket air cooler is 3.7GHz. She's stable and I ran IntelBurnTest for 2 hrs to check 100% loads and the resulting temperatures/stability. Maxed out at 91 degrees during load tests and about 55 degrees in DCS everything MAX'ed. Getting continuous 60 frames with vsync. Happy days!

A good base for triple monitoring in the very near future.

hey fellas, sry for not checking in for so long but been crazy busy getting the r3volution out heh!

Anyhow, re some of the questions earlier in the thread:

1. Yes we will make the new fully articulating keyboard tray, and the floor monitor stand + new triple mounts available as accessories to oZone cockpit owners smile The new keyboard tray also has a self adhesive mouse pad material that is not so sticky so it can easily be replaced once it wears out. We will also try to have these made for the oZone keyboard trays as they are a different shape.

2. Re if the r3volution still offers good use as a workstation, ABSOLUTELY and even better than the oZone in many ways. Instead of one acrylic tabletop (like on the oZone) the r3volution has two fully articulating tabletops. These tabletops can be pulled right up in front of you and then tilted if you choose to do so. Also, they have holders on the bottom of the tabletops to hold peripherals or other mobile gadgets when tilted. This also comes in handy when playing flight sims or racing sims as you now have a place to put your keyboard tray to the left or in a position higher up and more in your line of sight. Furthermore, the main monitor mount has a fully articulating arm which will allow the user to pull the monitor closer to them if need be....we've had many requests for something like this from our customers who are also graphics designers and architects.

Hope this provides more info on the new cockpit smile Sorry to have the price so much higher on this cockpit but it's a major PIA to make with all those welds & crazy angled cuts!! For all of those that pre-ordered in AU/NZ, EU & US we will have some instructional vids going up on the YouTube by tomorrow. Should make assembly easier for everyone wink

Thanks to all those that pre-ordered, we REALLY appreciate your support!!

Best regards,
Chris Dunagan

**EDIT** oOps I forgot to mention, we are working on a prototype yoke mount that will utilize the centre stick mounting post (ie coming up from the bottom between the users legs. This would free up the main mount for instrument displays or whatever else the user has for instruments. Should be finished with the prototype and testing by next weekend.

**EDIT 2** I just wanted to mention, with all the sim pilots in here, as many of you probably already know the China aviation industry is booming and is still in it's infancy or near non-existence with VERY little airspace open for general aviation. The govt, govt companies, and private companies are therefore doing all they can to promote aviation in schools across the country....they are even discussing offering flying at a primary level to get young Chinese interested. They are also planning to offer it throughout secondary schooling and University as a profession. All of this really excites me as I'm very keen on aviation and have been pretty much my whole life.

Anyhow, we are really excited about a new relationship we have with China's largest simulation manufacturer. They mfg the uber simulators for military & commercial aviation but are using our cockpits across China for promoting aviation to the youths in this country. Along with that company we have supplied at least 4 other flight schools that have opened the past year and each have over 30 cockpits teaching "flying 101" on pc sims to secondary (middle school & high school) students & young adults. It TRULY makes me happy to be a small part of giving so many young people here a glimpse of the awesome'ness of aviation.

Sorry for taking up space but just wanted to share wink

Great news regarding offering different parts of the Revolution as add on accessories to the OZone. I will absolutely be ordering those to improve my Ozone. Thanx a million! Quick question, I'm assuming the flight stick and throttle mounts are interchangeable between the two types?

hey Bohemond, ya we did change the flight stick mount a bit for the r3v cockpit in terms of height and distance from the user, but it is basically the same. Either will work as they come with their own mounting posts which will bolt up to either cockpit.

Would love to see an up close picture of those HOTAS mounts as I've ordered some but haven't seen them yet.

Also the triple monitor mounting arms, do you find any alinement issues with the weight of the side monitors? I've got 3x27" and just wondering about how it'll mount.

Congrats on the R3volution, it looks amazing!

Hi Deigs

Do you have a Warthog?

There's a few picture of the stick mount modified cut to exact size in another thread.

I did the same mod and cut the pole to make it as low as possible also.

I think I'll cut mine to fit the warthog. Just wondered how different the new R3volution ones were from the Ozone mounts.

Deigs, I believe the stock photos used on the obutto site have triple 27" monitors on the R3volution.
