PatrickAWilson:
I want to thank you for your Campaign Mod, without it I never would have purchased RoF since I do not fly on-line.

The only combat flight sim that I know of that handicaps the AI as much as the player when flying in the clouds is OFF Phase 3 with the clouds slider all the way to "5".

Thanks for your reply Pat.

"I have rainy days in the campaign, but they are rare. I got a bad weather/overcast/low ceiling mission just a couple of days ago in testing. They certainly flew in less than ideal conditions, but there were limits. If it was really coming down or they were completely socked in, they didn't fly. Not much to be done in a WWI crate in pouring rain with limited visibility other than kill yourself. Recon, Arty spot, bomb, balloon - can't see so why fly? No targets in the air no need for scouts.

I also don't like the way RoF (or any combat flight sim that I have ever played) plays out in bad weather. Get into a cloud - zero visibility - but the AI sees just fine. Mostly I prefer to model bad weather days as non-flying days."

I agree with you about bad weather = don't fly.
But of course, there is bad weather and bad weather!
Real bad weather = don't fly, but some bad weather can be flyed! (Some English WW1 pilots were known for flying in bad weather imo)

On side note, AIs aren't seeing through clouds anymore. Made many tests when chased by AI ennemy.
2 seaters can easily and safely hide in overcast to avoid any bad encounters.
Once was chased by 3 opponents, i quickly climbed 100m to hide in overcast, i could hear them but they didn't fired me nor followed, and i lost them pretty fast...
But i agree under overcast, in rain with poor visi (for player), AI are still seeing very very well!

Anyway, it's up to you to decide for bad weather!
I still believe few bad weathers days flying can be immersive with our beautiful ROF rain drop on googles, but maybe not that much as B career...

V11.0 has been sent to Jason and Gremlin. Please wait for confirmation that it has been uploaded. Trust me, you won't have to wonder if you got the latest version.

Special thanks to Red Piano, Barkhorn, Elefant, and tn_prvteye. The test feedback was fantastic. No way this gets delivered without their help.

New Features:
- Full Screen UI
- Add Mission Map View/Editor.
- Added many names for more variety.
- Added aces - there are now over 180 in RoFCampaign
- New pictures for common German pilots.

Bug Fixes:
- Offensive patrols were not crossing the lines
- Fixed a couple of bugs on the pilot victories page
- Many items reported by testers.

Copy of a post I just made on the official RoF forum :

Made a test mission, and noticed that the whole set of waypoints is offset on the map UI.
Herunder you can see that the takeoff/land waypoints are offset from the airfield of Beauzé sur Aire.
The rest of the path being offset by the same relative distance and heading, this is why we see that patrol paths are on our side of the lines for instance.
Once on the RoF game map, the waypoints are fine and at the right place.
As I have several "dead" careers still saved, I generated missions for different pilots at different places and every time the takeoff/land waypoint is offset to roughly North of where it should be by about 1 square difference.

Otherwise ran the mission "Mods on" without any problem (besides the 4 Albatros DIII who tried to jump my Spad VII...lol)

I was hoping you could help: Download the ICE map from useful materials, convert it to JPG, and replace ..\RofCampaign\data\Images\RofMap.jpg. The software adjusts to the image. Let me know if that helps.

Here's the thing - the software will only be as accurate as the map image. Coordinates are based on the map in the editor, which is absolutely accurate. They are converted to a pixel location through simple math. There will be some rounding error but if the map is accurate then it should not be more than a couple hundred meters.

The map delivered in 11.0 was one that I put together. I have since figured out how to convert from AI to JPG and done so. 11.1 will be delivered with the map from useful materials. You can do that yourself right now. It will work because no software change is required - RoFCampaign will adjust itself to the new map.

I've done that and I get the same offset 330° from the airfield. I have posted pics on the original RoF Forum thread.
Anyway as said there this is not stopping the show as on the in-game map the waypoints are at the right place.

Thanks for the visuals. They help. Not sure what to do about it but I have an idea. The offset could be something as simple as accounting for a border on the map.Not sure, but I'll try to pin it down.

Corsaire: 777 was kind enough to provide me with a map that scales really well. It will be in 11.1.

I'm getting disparate here on the mission report, still get the error on. Did do set mission text log on 1 and put in the right folder path in the GUI. Can select the date for the action, but after that, it generate a failure notification [without any text].

11.1 release candidate is in the hands of the testers. if it works out then I will release in a day or two. The big feature is campaign by service rather than nation. All services have accurate medals, ranks, and pilot pictures. The British have the RNAS and RFC. Both become the RAF on April 1 1918, again with proper ranks and medals. The Germans get the Marine Jastas. The French get the lone land squadron of the French Navy. The Belgians come into their own.

Here's the README:

11.1
- Services fully implemented: names, pictures, medals, etc.
- Belgium
- RNAS/RFC/RAF
- Marine Jastas
- French Navy
- Balloons winch down
- AAA along the front with minimal performance hit
- Must enable in configuration
- Advanced Config -> Mission Limits -> Use Front MGs = 1
- More accurate map in mission briefing
-
Bug Fixes:
- Issues with player recon mission photo icon
- Incorrect UI formatting causing overlaps.
- Chalkboard font
- Fixed transfer
- Fixed Player air starts
- Other items reported by testers.
