Ok, so I set a goal for myself...continue pugging exclusively til I reach a kdr of 1.0. Started in the toilet at .26 and have climbed up to .91 (-17 in the kill column).

Yesterday should help a lot though, running my good ole hbk-4sp I racked up my first 7 kill match :-). An atlas, cataphract, and commando after my last teammate fell. Maybe there is hope for me yet.

My advice, forget about your K/D ratio, all stats will be reset when they introduce in-game achievements...

I know, I really only concern myself with how much damage I do and my place on my team in that stat. I just want the 1.0 rate because Im so close I can taste it.

Yup,

I think the next update includes 'detailed stats tracking'. Not sure what will be there, but I am thinking of additional things like components destroyed, enemies spotted, things like that.

Kill / Death Ratio

Wow! Never would've expected this. I'm never positive in any game I play. Usually about .6 or so. LOL
I bet this is falling now that more people are on there a lot more than I am.

Some nice touches coming in the patch today. Most notable to me are the changes in heat for large lasers and PPC's. They were way too hot for the pulse lasers and PPC's IMO, making them not worth ever using.
Supposed to be a big FPS improvement. Mentions changing the shaking when hit with laser or ballistic rounds. I hope that means they toned down the screen shake when getting hit with AC/2's. That's ridiculous, you can't see to take a return shot.

Wow just had a chance to update and try the new patch, I really like the added pre-round and post-round chat UI and stats, really helps to see what the teams looked like and be able to give congrats on good kills.

They also seem to have improved my framerate and fixed the sound bug when lots of missiles hit, last but not least the mechs seem much more colorful, very cool playing tonight.

Got some drops in last night. Really liking the new patch, had lots of fun.

Noticed a couple SimHQ guys in my friends list online, so I created an MWO channel on the TS3 server. Remember to check that everyone so we can coordinate some groups.

bisher,

Currently the 'Training Grounds' is just a bunch of resources/tutorials on how to pilot and play the game.

They are planning a 'test map' or some method of dropping by yourself and/or a few friends just for the purposes of testing setups and learning to pilot.

I agree that currently the learning curve is frustrating. Really the only reason for that is that there is no 'test map' to drop into. On the very first game you play, you are dropped into a live match, and that is frustrating and also somewhat intimidating for a lot of people.

I will say this though, it is well worth it. Anyone who is thinking of trying the game out, and getting going, just post here and try to coordinate a fellow SimHQ member to drop with while on TS3 server, you will find this method the best way to get going, until the have a solo 'test map'.

Cheers!

That may have been KlarSnow and myself, we normally create a MWO channel as well but we only jumped online for a couple of matches to test out the new patch. I should be free tonight if you have any free time, ~9PM EST.

This is, by the way, the most impressive patch I've seen yet, I really appreciate the new GUI!

Yeah I really enjoyed playing with the patch last night, I wasn't able to be on without interruption so didn't join on Teamspeak, and the PUG drops I did were pretty tough competition since most of the organized teams were out in force last night, but it was really fun being able to tell what the mech mix was when the damage tally was shown, now I can get more satisfaction when my brawler founder's hunchie doles out 400+ damage.

Will try to get some time tonight again.

I finally got around to try MW:O. And have to say I'm pretty impressed.

Anyone in the Euro timezone playing this?
