First, you're like:

crew

And then your scouts go:

runningdog

Followed quickly by:

jawdrop

And then:

wounded

Hopefully they're fast enough to:

exitstageleft

But often, they try to tackle too much and...

boom

While that's happening, the long range artillery and snipers open up:

explode

And the rest move to contact:

boom attack

There's predictable carnage:

duel

And one team is left standing:

winner

I managed to find some gameplay vids on the googles and intertubes and it looks pretty darn good to this old MW2 player, the map looks much more detailed than MWLL which I really like for light mech tactics... sounds were pretty great too.

If the founders packages had a bit more lasting value besides getting in on the beta early I might just bite, but as is I'm trying to stay patient...

Well, I'm glad you guys liked it.

I can say that everything feels pretty good...better than MWLL or MW2.

MechWarrior is my favorite game of all time... I'm a clanner, but I'm having a lot of fun at the moment. Need more meta game though!

Man this looks so good, I just hope there will be goals based missions etc.

If they just did like Tribes F2P and provided some permanent XP/CBill benefit to being a Founder (besides just a mech skin and forum title), I'd be jumping in by now...

The founders mechs provide a permanent c-bill boost.
The bonus is also additive to the boost you get with Premium status.

I can't go double-check it from my current connection, but I'm pretty sure the top two levels have a permanent bonus associated with the Founder's mechs.

I can't say the the amount of boost, because I can't find it on the non-beta forum, but here is some info available to all:
http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/13874-official-developer-update/
Quote:
So as it pertains to the Founders Program, they aren’t meant represent the value you receive immediately upon gaining access to the game. The value of the Founders Package is that it is a lifetime reward and recognition opportunity. All of the hard currency you get in the product will be yours to spend over the entire lifetime of the product, the Founders tag which will be available on the forums immediately after purchasing your Founders Package will mark you uniquely for the entire lifetime of the product. The same can be said for the Founder’s ’Mech’s, they will be unique on the battlefield marking you as an original founder of MWO as well as providing a boost to C-bill earning for the lifetime of the product.

Aha thanks for correcting me guys, looks like I need to do some further investigation, been trying to avoid digging in too much as a MW2 fan it's hard to avoid the temptation to join the beta fun now.

Was just watching the gameplay here from one of the official videos that is non edited gameplay and it looks really good. (gameplay starts at 16:15)

Some additional info from the MWO forums for anyone that was as misinformed as me:

Quote:
As for what the founders get, the mechs are the same, identical mechs that everyone else has access to except that they have a different paint job to set them apart and they earn +25% more c-bills per battle. All other mechs that a founder buys will not have this bonus.

As for the Premium Membership, this is available to everyone at all times and simply provides a 50% boost to XP and C-Bills. This element of the game model is to allow people with more money and less time the ability to try and stay even with the other people.

No "premium mechs". No "premium items". No "premium ammo".. (where "premium" is something that gives increased damage or increase stats etc) nothing that you can't get as a free player by simply playing the game.

Sounds like they really are trying to keep a level playing field between the F2P members and the pay members as much as possible (which I actually prefer unlike WOT), so for me personally I mainly need to decide whether that particular founder's mech having a +25% more c-bills per battle for the lifetime is worth it compared to being patient.

Update: ok after reading up on it, as feared I was not able to resist, I am now part of the Founders program and it is downloading now, I just signed the NDA so from here on out my comments will be limited to charades and emoticons...
