Here is a development SAMSIM version, that writes "NE ZAHVAT" into the after action report, if the missile is lost for this reason.

Anyway, I think I got the method how to shoot the SR-71 down with a conventional warhead. Many times I have thought how to get missiles to the vicinity of the desired impact point in a straight way and do not lose energy and time by manouvering.
So I pointed SNR at about 52 degrees in azimuth and about 22 degrees in elevation. Fixed, no target tracking.
When SR-71 is about 105km far I fired three by six (three missiles with 6s delay) and waited for the SR71 to come to the vertical marks in azimuth and elevation and enabled tracking.
This seems to be working but I do not have enough time to precisely tune azimuth and elevation angles as well as distance of the SR-71 in the moment of shooting.
If someone could get it to the perfection I will be glad smile2

Yes, that 1,4km is an error - SNR thinks missile and its target are at the same place,so it sends K3 command to detonate warhead.
Even if you set altitude/distance correctly you do not know how reliable your source of this info is.
Try to get the distance information from your radar and set it as soon as possible to I-87V (remember SR-71's huge speed).
Anyways, 1,4km for a nuclear warhead with yield of 15kt is sufficient, isn't it? thumbsup

SR-71 can be shot down on incoming course, there are two main problems we are facing in El Dorado Canyon:
- target is jamming SNR so we do not have realiable tracking in distance and we must rely on I-87V
- target just touches the destruction zone of S-75 and at the edge of it it makes a turn at Mach 3.
