At the time I am typing this, ArmA2 Combined Ops is showing as the top seller in the Steam Summer Sale on my Store page. Nice to see the community expanding. Do you think DayZ may have something to do with it ?
Cheers

I think it's been number one for about 2 months now?
I will ignore all ideas for new works and engines of war, the invention of which has reached its limits and for whose improvement I see no further hope.

Well well, it has been in the top 10 for the last 2 months...

Unfortunally it is! It's because things like this that I'm loosing my hopes on mankind... Well just try to keep in mind the fresh amount of money going into BI to make Arma3 better thanks to DayZ and the players who try out the Arma2 engine for DayZ and may become interested in the non-DayZ part of it thanks to this. There's people like me who never were very comfortable with Arma2's controls and complicated inventory system and so avoided organized play so that we wouldn't hold the rest of the team back trying to get something out of our backpack, but thanks to all the DayZ practice the inventory system finally clicked and we're now taking part in MM and TT... so it's not all doom and gloom unless you want to be the only one playing Arma3 and let run and gun crap like COD be the big seller forever. DayZ is not everyone's tastes, but I never would've guessed Arma2/BI fans would be unhappy about it being on a top seller list...

Hopefully they can hire more bug squashers.
Remember all the bugs in ArmA 2 will be in ArmA 3. It is the same core engine.
I hope to see 2 more patches after this current one coming.
Otherwise the press and average community (not players/groups like us) is going to eat them alive again.

It's not a matter of being beneficial/profitable or not to ArmA3 (which BTW, I don't like it's scenario/storyline/timeframe as well but that's an another story) but it's a matter that people prefer or seem to prefer a realistic "millsim" with Zombies and other Sci-fi-ish stuff than having a realistic "millsim" with realistic units/enemies. This is where I'm "loosing my hopes on mankind"...

Fair enough ricnunes, but it might not be "prefer" as much as "in addition to". Personally I typically prefer milsim to Zombie or Scifi shooters, but the thing that attracted me to DayZ and keeps me playing is the post-apocalypse dangerous world that persists after you logout, and really the Zombies in DayZ aren't they main story anyhow, they are just background "animals" like the cows and bunnies, you can avoid or deal with them pretty easily, the real action is human players/squads versus other players/squads and the fight for limited resources and military firepower, so the day to day play is closer to post-apocalypse milsim than the title sounds. But I get your point and I agree Zombie games have jumped the shark for a while now, and DayZ catches some of that flak as well, although I personally think people who come to it looking for a Zombie game will be disappointed to find it's really not about the Z's at all and they bought a milsim by accident, so BI might as well enjoy the cash inflow until people figure that out and word gets out
