After updating ROF today (I haven't played it for few months now) I encountered strange issue. I have no sound in game (although I have sound in the 777 intro cinematic (and in any other game on my PC and in windows). I tried the Recovery option from the launcher - no joy, the problem persists. Tried alt-tabing from the game and checking the sound mixer for the volume - everything is fine there. Even tried lowering hardware acceleration for sound in dxdiag and changing sound options in the launcher (number of chanells, quality). Still nothing. Any ideas would be helpful.

My OS: Windows XP SP3, sound board: integrated on MB Realtek High Definition Audio

I have the same config as you and have no sound problem. No idea at the moment... sorry !

Geez, Damson, that's an odd one I haven't seen/heard of before. Did you try updating your audio drivers to the latest version in case they aren't up to date? When you tried different settings within the game for audio, did you try to max them out? Most systems, even mid range to lower ones can usually handle this without many issues at all so give that a shot if you haven't tried those settings. Also, if you haven't done so already, I would post this on the official forums, too to make sure the team will actually see this one and hopefully provide you with a solution. Good luck!

Thanks for replies. I posted the issue on official forum and in the meantime I will try to make complete reinstall of ROF. I hope I can run it before updating to 1.026 and see if the sound is present in outdated version.

What are your sound settings? Possibly they are too high? I had to drop mine down after the patch as I started losing certain weapon sounds.

Also, I don't think you will be able to run the game w/o patching it. At least I have not found a way.

Edit: Hmmmm, you did say you lowered the sound settings w/o luck. Sorry for not having any other ideas.

You re-booted your machine to re-initialize the drivers, right? Just asking, as I had sound problems last night while playing and simply restarted the game...but perhaps a re-boot would do the trick.
