This patch is epic, so much new content. Its almost like a new sim....

I've just spent a couple of hours just trying things out on the different planes and I've hardly scratched the surface. Every weapon install seems slightly different, trying all this stuff out is going to take weeks smile

Aye moggy, massively impressed after around 2 1/2 hours flying it last night and so pleased that the dispersion and a few DM elements have been tweaked and overhauled; this really is a "game changing" patch....for the absolute better. I've long been in the "anti-sniper" camp, and although I could get kills from those daft ranges, refused to even fire that far out on principle, given that it was so unrealistic. ROF is now far more like I envisioned WWI dogfighting to be....Deadly and up close and personal (easier to get pilot kills and inflict catastrophic damage with new rates of fire at short range), and the new synchronisation system is great. Now a close range, well aimed short burst at an optimal RPM really does the business.

Too early to say its a 'perfect patch' as I have only done a little testing so far, and have yet to look at impact on performance and FM's thoroughly. First impressions are that the 2 vickers Tripe Hound does not climb or zoom as well, (as rightly expected of course) and I had some good fun in the Dolphin gunship last night ("Say hello to my leetle friends!" biggrin lol ), firing the Alb DII Becker cannon (absolutely lethal against 2 seaters and even the mighty HP if you aim well) , and missing a lot with Le Prieur rockets lol. I'm thinking the DII field mod sights would help for aiming the Becker cannon without elevation, its too hard and you can't see where the rounds are going, will get em tonight I think. Vickers 11.43mm Balloon gun is as you'd imagine deadly against Balloons, and more effective than stock against fighters etc.

The Becker cannon strikes me as being very prone to jams, if this was the case historically though (probably I suspect, but haven't researched em) then great and well done. Have yet to try the new gunner commands though, will pop in later with any comments.

Get some!!! hahaha (Would only take all guns for hunting bombers though, too much for dogfighting, wing lewis guns at the most for that job).

"Becker Mayhem", lol.

Vast improvement with this patch thus far, even with only a short dabble....and great job 777. smile Love the new heat blur effect too, looks cool when a Hun is on fire up close. yep

Damn, must still wait for the box to come with the mail.
I finally made the leap and bought RoF, and I am simply
baffled with all this (eye) candy!

Don't wait for the box! Download and play today! You can fly two planes today for free and when box comes tomorrow enter the key and upgrade it. Takes 2 seconds. The download from the website is newer than the build in the box anyways. Less to update.

Do it now!

Barkhorn1x--Those are GREAT PICS!
Please, what are your settings (looks like you have some gamma working there) for RoF, and your system specs?

I've been tweaking my new 670 gtx card trying to get things just right. Mine are crisp, but not quite as vivid as your pics.

Thanks!

Broadside

TY - here are my specs:

ATI Radeon HD 6970 Lightning 2GB DDR5 16X PCIe Video Card [DirectX 11 Support]

...and here are my settings:

I set the Gamma to 40% as it gives me a richer color palette.

If anyone has been sitting on the fence wondering whether to try RoF then this patch has got to finally make em take the plunge. In so many ways it has increased the enjoyment and playability of the game. We are so lucky to have this great Combat Sim to enjoy. Especially with so many dissappointments from other developers.

Carry on with the great work 777, there is much much more to come smile

Thanks Barkhorn1x !
Your tips really enriched my RoF experience.
These are with 40% gamma, no bloom (I had bloom on before your post), HDR med, and sharp picture (+ max everything, and 8x AA in RoF, 4x SGSS thru Inspector for no shimmering), and I edited the settings file with .90000 saturation.
