Congrats.
It´s always very hard to score against a good and massive defense.

I think the game against greece will look quite similar.
Hopefully the result will be quite similar, too.

I started out neutral but Portugal were blatantly diving so much it made me root for the Czechs. Ronaldo did his "shot in the back with high powered sniper rifle" act at 20 minutes in the box to try and get a fake penalty; the Czech defender was 2ft away from him after the pushing and shoving (by both) and there was no contact whatsoever when he dived. nope A few more blatant dives later, as well as in the box too. He is fantastically skillful, but its out of order doing that (sorry Eagle and no offence, but its not in the Spirit of the game, and he should be booked when he does it for trying to deceive the ref by rights).

I know a few England players have disgracefully done it in the past which I condemn utterly too, but its very rare. With him its every 5 minutes. I was proud of Wayne Rooney staying up the penalty box after being pulled back by his shirt WWF wrestling style by the Ukrainian defender last game; could have easily got a penalty if he milked the foul and went down. Proud that he didn't and stood strong, good show. Rather lose nobly with honour than "win" a hollow victory with skullduggery and shame. yep

Congrats though....Its just CR, he does me head in lol. smile

Yeah I've often been embarrassed to be a fan of Portugal due to the diving in past tournaments, but although you are right on that one Biggles, you have to admit there has been much less diving from them at Euro 2012 than in the past, I've seen some other teams do much worse this time (Spain and especially France).

I'd rather have a non-call than they miss a close call like the poor captain for Greece Karagounis who got that undeserved yellow for diving when it should have been a penalty kick instead, plus he will miss the quarter final...

Trying not to get too hopeful for Portugal to avoid the usual disappointment but so far I think they've played pretty well and not let Ronaldo's attitude drive the team (good and bad) as much as in the past... should be interesting against the winner of France vs Spain.

I love Ribery style, power and effort. But his constant open mouth ankle grabbing makes me hate him instead. Oh well!

Figo's reaction to the goal:

He looks like he wants to jump to the field and score the goal himself!

Isit broadcast on the radio? If so get an earplug. Just don't start yelling when Germany scores during the ceremony.;)

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Fun fact, Karagounis holds the all time record for yellow cards in the Euros receiving 8 of them, and in 2004 cup he missed two games, one of which was the final.

As for the game itself, I don't think Germany will have problems with us. What I don't understand though, is some of the douchebagery that runs rampant in some of the german press, where they try to make this game something more than a sports game.

Diving and faking an injury should be an automatic yellow card.

I would also like to see no offsides when the ball is inside the 18yd line. Might produce a few more goals.

Thanks for the info. I found the listing for the Greece / Germany match on my DVR menu. I'll have to tune out from this thread for a bit though - I was hoping to watch the Portugal / Czech match this evening after DVRing the first half..but now I found out the score from this thread...

Click to reveal..
That was a pretty awesome back-flipping kick that Ronaldo did..even though it hit the post and rebounded..

The same picture has been painted here two days ago, showing the headlines of the Greek press. smile The tabloid press, of course. Certain journalists love to stir things up.

What is this mysterious "soccer", of which thou hast spaken? You Merikins and your funny little words. screwy hahaha

Heres John Cleese to set the record straight (a bit fun, I actually love "hand-egg", AKA Gridiron, its a great game. Its quite clearly not football though. This really should be self evident. The clue is in the name. biggrin ) And yes its not strictly true that Gridiron players don't have to think, things like "audibles" to change plays on the fly etc, its very strategic actually....bit like human chess. Can't expect Cleese to know that though, though in fairness he probably doesn't care, either. hahaha

About the Press. It's just the beginning. If Germany and England make it to the halffinal you will think the last war have never ended.

Don't take that #%&*$# seriosly. Been in England last year i met nice people only and noone mentioned the war wave

If English people who mention it look like a younger version of John Cleese I wouldn't mind.
