Are there any games that have a somewhat realistic damage model on bodies? What I am looking for is something close to real life. Shoot the enemy in the knee and he falls down squireling in pain and is basically out of the game. I find myself bored with today's shooters where both my character and the enemy can take tons of damage without dying. Sure there is ARMA and I do play it but it does not model damage in this way.

Your suggestions would be appreciated =)

Thanks!

There was one a few years ago, not sure about the realism side but it was pretty gross. Think it was called Soldier of Fortune?

I recall Swat 4 having quite realistic damage modelling. You could get localized damage on the legs where you could still move around but dragging a leg and one shot kills were definitely modelled as well.

As for getting shot in the knee and that bringing down an enemy in pain but not killing him, I've never seen that kind of highly localized damage modelling in any game that I've played.

Red Dead Redemption was pretty good for realistic damage.

Yeah, SWAT 4 had nice consequences for being careless. Dragging that leg after an injury early in a mission would have you cussing. Especially with stairs. LOL

There's always Sniper Elite 2.

Swat 4 cooperative play with the SimHQ group was an absolute blast. I miss those old days of tazing perps with Magnum, Jedi Master and Bill Grant.

America's Army was great, not sure if it's still around. You could bleed out if a medic didn't get to you in time. If shot in the leg you had a noticeable limp and your shooting ability reduced. Loved that game.

Another new game supposed to be coming out next year. There was an advertising banner from the top of a forum page on this site, they were looking to raise money, can't remember what it was called, but they were going to have a realistic damage model.

It was entirely on rails, but the gibs were quite good fun biggrin

AA was good, but I haven't touched it in a long time though. Played it a lot more on the original Xbox port, hundreds of hours. If you were injured, you stayed injured, and first aid effectiveness was based on the training of the person working on you, or your own training if you weren't too incapacitated to move. After injuries, if you over did it, you could die from the exertion. Movement and targeting etc was affected by injuries in varying degrees too, brilliant system.

Soldier of fortune II. Mad violence and quite shocking for its time. Loved it.

The last Soldier of Fortune is also doesn't hold anything back. Red Dead and Max Payne 3 uses physics and the euhpria engine which is great. AI will try to maintain a standing posture so if they get nailed they'll limp or crawl away, lay on the ground and still shoot back so on and so forth.

Ground Branch, is the one I was thinking of. The SimHQ home page has it at the top above the articles. Click on the ad and it will take you to the site. It seemed a lot like America's Army.
