Again, I really think it is an OK risk to take. The ZSU-23-4 is not all that proliferate, and now that the War on Terrorism is getting to the stage where terrorists are decentralizing and attacks are getting more individual based and less ambitious, I don't see a problem for you at all, Hpasp.

It may be a bit difficult to paste the link, since the forum doesn't support the Cyrillic script and the movie is Soviet (1964), but I'll try anyway.

www dot youtube dot com slash watch?v=KtyhbSMmDyM

If the link doesn't work or is removed, send me a PM

Haha, and Hpasp probably is going to shoot them down with pointing out the factual errors in the movie.

Great Movie...

... pretty interesting, that the panel before the actor, has SOME similarity to a real Volhov FCO panel.

I think this is a seeker and guidance section of a Russian anti radiation missile.

Yes, its a passive seeker for Kh-31

I count 7 passive elements, rather than 6.

This is the guidance section, the warhead is in the next section aft, the missile propulsion configuration is solid fuel booster and four sustainer ramjets.

Click to reveal..

Monopulse guidance head of a (Russian) Anti Radiation Missile.

The ARM guidance head is usually based on monopulse method (same as used with the KRUG system [YOU SHOULD KNOW IT ALREADY!!!]), as the targeted SAM system can be switched off at any moment.

Here is the guidance head of (our best friend biggrin ) the AGM-88 HARM missile...

... it has four spiral antenna, with offset center.

Each of the wideband spiral antenna has offset center, so they can precisely locate any SINGLE incoming radio impulse.

Russians use less effective method of bigger shifted and smaller (less sensitive) spiral antenna design...
dizzy

In fact most if not all modern radar guided missiles use a monopulse antenna design. Let's see if someone starts building AESA-radared missiles ... biggrin

Thanks for the pic BTW, I had not seen that antenna before.
