I saw that trailer when I went to go see Prometheus on Friday. I laughed out loud when I saw Denzel doing a barrel roll in the plane.

What, no Immelmans or Split-Ss?

What, you guys don't remember Tex Johnson doing barrel rolls in the Dash 80 707 prototype?

Hehehe, I did enjoy the oh so subtle bit of exposition at the start....."WE ARE IN A DIVE!" spelling it out clearly just in case the audience were unaware of the gravitas of the situation, and how much bad sh*t is about to go down.

A "what-who-dunnit" mystery thriller tale of a maverick booze hound genius Pilot who doesn't play by the rules (but he gets results) as he searches for redemptive salvation and/or Justice? Or something more unexpected and indeed more fantastically sinister?

Maybe he actually died in the crash and has to undergo some kind of purgatorial trial in order to save his Soul....In limbo betwixt Heaven and Hell, and he can see dead people (including himself) but he doesn't know that he really isn't dead himself......or is he?

I can see more 'twists and turns' than a Bolshoi ballet production, in this one. Involving robots. Every film needs robots, in this day and age. Did I mention robots? Invisible Iranian Hunter-Killer Terrorist Stealth robots.....With frikkin lasers in their eyes, that the FAA and CIA have long known the existence of but have tried to cover up. But why, and what precisely was the meaning of the air traffic controllers mysterious "Code Geronimo" directive prior to the crash that I've just made up, and for what terrible purpose?


A conspiracy so immense.

This is what I signed up for in 2000 when I began my illustrious flying career as a regional airline pilot.

Guaranteed they used the miracle on the hudson as a basis for this movie.

I often say that to anyone around me that will listen as I stand proudly (sort of hunched over) at the open door of our jet. The statement is often accompanied by the smell of burnt rubber and carbon brakes. Nevermind the compression ripples on the top of the skin of the wing.

And that huge paycheck. I mean..Kanye said it best:

That and Alaska Airlines 261 accident in January 2000. We hope the producers/director of this upcoming flick seriously respect and remember those perished on ASA 261. And that rolling an airliner inverted to become an instant hero (and make a movie) does not make light of that horrible accident.

However, it is documented in the NTSB report that the crew of ASA 261 did attempt to fly the aircraft inverted because they could not raise the nose. They ran out of options and were forced to improvise.
