Two thumbs WAY up.

However, be prepared to NOT have all questions answered in the film. That's all I'll say. smile

You know what-it is a major mistake to tell everything.
That is one of the truisms of storytelling-especially filmed storytelling.
Never explain too much.

Example:
In the Indiana Jones movies,we don't know why he hates snakes. It isn't explained.
In the Young Indiana Jones TV show,it gets explained.Shouldn't have done that.Mystery removed.

I don't want an explanation for everything.
Just tell a good story.

What Panzermeyer said. Also, I recommend the 3D version unless you have some sort of problem with it (headaches or dizziness) - I promise that they did it right for once as far as quality.

The issue is not p*ssy. The issue is monkey.

I'll second what Letterboy said concerning the 3D. The movie has none of those 3D gimmicks that you see so often in other films and the 3D isn't over-done.

Well I've never seen a 3d movie-so do they give you glasses or is that not required?

Yes, and these days they are re-usable (as in, you return them at the end of the show).

With that said, a little advise:

I saw it Saturday morning (11:45). There was a line forming for it a 1/2 hour before the show began. That was the non-3D version. I want to go back and see it again at an IMAX theatre in a week or two. Needless to say, I really enjoyed the movie.

Just got back.
3D was interesting.
Probably the most 'visually arresting' flick I've ever seen.

Good movie.
They'll never top Alien and Aliens, though.

Prometheus made 50 million this opening weekend which is a VERY impressive haul for an R rated film.

So many logic gaps in this movie.
I enjoyed it, but hard not to be hit over the head with the flaws.

Can someone explain why the pictograms are, over thousands of years, "inviting" humans to what amounts to a biological weapons installation?
For what purpose? Seems that they can transport the bio-weapon just fine in ships, and only a few humans would show up - not to mention are we supposed to believe this installation was up and functioning for 6000 years?

That's really the narrative laps in logic that took me out of the film.
Otherwise I enjoyed it well enough.
One thing though, it IS an out and out Alien prequel. I'm surprised since I'd heard more or less "it takes place in the same universe, and shares some DNA, but not a prequel as such" Bull puckey, it's a Alien prequel.

It's not a very smart film, but visually interesting and entertaining enough for an aftnoon's diversion.
Does it live up to what we'd expect from a Ridley Scott Alien film? Not even close.

What exactly was smart about "Alien"? It had a very basic and straight forward story but what made "Alien" a classic was how visceral and creative that simple story was told. And of course HR Giger's amazing artistry.

I do agree with you though on your point about "Prometheus" having some logical gaps but you'll find logic gaps in pretty much any sci-fi film if you analyze it closely enough.

Don't you mean in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" not in the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles?

I've been reading that people are getting dirty 3-D glasses and such...Makes me wonder if they do things differently from state to state. Here in IL, they give them to you and they are sealed in plastic wrap so.
