Hi everyone. First off I'd like to say I know there are lots of other topics like this but I dont wanna hijack someones thread so Ill post my own. And yes I did use the search feature. So let me give you my specs,
Athlon XP 2800
1024mb DDR400
Radeon 9700pro
DX 9b
Win XP Pro

So I recieved my copy of F/A-18. I install it, install the patch and go to play. The little splash screen comes up then goes away. It doesnt even load the game. Just the splash screen. So I tried compatibility mode. I tried installing it in compatibility mode. I even rolled back DX. All to no avail. If anyone can help me with my problem then please do. Thanks alot all of you. IM thinkin of just setting up a dual boot. If anyone can help me with this please do. Again Thanks alot.

I know you hate to hear this but here goes - I'm running under XP with no problems.

So what's the difference. Me = AMD 2800, ATI 9600XT, 756 RAM dadadadadadada.....

ARe you running your desktop at the same resolution as F18 is starting up at? I believe F18 is sensitive to this. Go to the THS website and download thier Hi Res upgrade. It sets the reolution at a minimum 1024 x 768, set your desktop to that also and see if it starts.

Try running End It All (if you don't have just Yahoo search) and shut down everything you can and see if it starts.

Search here some more or in other forums.

It does work and work just fine if you can find what your conflict is.

Good luck!

Just curious. What patch did you apply?

The Colonel asked the right question. I had the same problem until I did a clean install with the 1.01F patch. No problems now. Don't even have to use compatibility.

High Res?? I am assuming you mean you went into the game options and set the screen res to something like 1024 X 768 or above?? If so, it's a common accident many people do. lol. You MUST set you desktop to the res you set in the game. Otherwise the game will crash when starting a mission \:D

In the JF-18 graphics options, what resolution do you have selected?

Another hitech problem solved. I thought you might have had a problem with the divariable trunk lid hum supressor or perhaps a short in the electronic rocker panels.

Don't know about coffee but it supports a can of Foster's quite nicely. Isn't that why we have "no cd" patches?

striker two things for the gridlines:

1) turn off sparkling water

2) make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card. I have a Geforce 2 MMX and using the 28.xx.xx drivers but rumor has it that I could use the 43.xx.xx drivers without getting the grid lines. I prescribe the if it isn't broke don't fix it logic so I am staying with my current drivers.

Grids are caused by the video card drivers. See my FAQ site below for fix. Just cruise through and you will find it ;\)
