Has anyone else gotten copyright claims on their youtube accounts from UEFA? I have gotten two claims against me in the last 3 months, both on videos I made of me flying in Rise of Flight. The videos are just recordings of me flying some missions in Rise of Flight. There is no other video material, no music. Just sound from the simulation.

Now as I understand it, UEFA stands for United European Football Association. Their version of the NFL in relation to soccer. Why is a soccer organization from Europe harassing my youtube account with respect to Rise of Flight videos? Is it because they use rather loose and broad search algorythims in their anti-piracy software or are they just plain assholes?

Its not that I am against fighting piracy but it ticks me off no end that they put my account in poor standing which I must then prove to them I did nothing wrong. It is like "guilty before proven innocent."

Are any of the teams the same name as a plane perhaps? Maybe they are lazy lawyers blanket claiming to cover a Neiuport Football club or something.

That's an odd one for sure. I wonder whether it's something to do with Swiss copyright law. Can't imagine why they're harassing a ROF video, though.

I'd be surprised if UEFA were doing that directly, would've thought it more likely to be someone acting on their behalf.

Well the first one had the name "Bristol" in the title because it was me flying the Bristol F2B fighter. The second one, which I got tagged for this weekend was just titled "Quick Mission-Rise of Flight." I thought the first one might have been because of "bristol" in it but I have no idea why this second one got tagged.

But if someone is indeed doing that, wouldn't they just look at the video before they tag it? I mean I just watched it to make sure I'm not doing anything improper and there is nothing there I can see. It is rediculous! I mean we all know there are thousands of Rise of Flight videos up with music even in them. Mine are just me flying with nothing but sounds from simulation. It boggles the mind.

Can you notify YouTube of abusive flagging? At minimum they might open a support discussion to clarify.

Yeah I've noticed that throughout this years UEFA Champion's League post game a lot of the videos people post of the games or interviews often is pulled soon after, so I'm guessing whoever UEFA has paid to watch for that stuff is abusing their flagging and search engine.

That is a good point adlabs6. I never thought of that. I'll have to dig around and check that out. What really irritates me is the claim is not really even mentioned in detail, it is rather a broad statement. In my dispute of it (which I just sent earlier) I asked "what exactly is the copyright claim?" I asked them "what does footbal have to do with a flight simulation?" I'm sure I won't get any answer other than they release me from the copyright claim....like in my previous video.

Well, if you were flying above the western front around Christmas 1914, you may have caught sight of one of the soccer games that sprung up.
....and as only the british, french and germans were involved, the games would fall under the jurisdiction of UEFA.

I didn't realise ROF was modelled in that much detail...

They can't touch you on the names of football clubs anyway, as the copyrights lay with the football club itself and NOT UEFA... plus, even if it's the name of the aircraft, I'm pretty sure that the name out dates UEFA, so good luck in them trying that one too!

UEFA's representative on youtube being a douche!

Sounds like it.
Because of the large amount of content, I bet they're using a very very blunt instrument to find copyright infringers and you just happen to be collateral damage.
