Funny you should mention... that's the beer I spilled on my computer this evening. No damage thankfully.
Hadn't had one in years, then last week I noticed it at the store in cans instead of the clear bottles (which seemed to be skunked more often than not). Yay. I can finally drink Newcastle that tastes the way its supposed to. Great brew for warmer weather.

Arthur 666 and Piper, Seeing that you are both from NC, I've also been enjoying "Gaelic Ale" from Highland Brewing Company in Asheville. Have you tried any of this? I really like it.

Never tried it, but will. Have to go back to Asheville one day soon. They say there are more breweries there per capita than Seattle. Check out Sweet Josie's if you ever see it. A great stout.

Mmmm, Newcastle. Used to serve it at my neighborhood pub when I lived in Little Italy. As for the Gaelic Ale, I happen to be drinking one right now. I've made it a mission since I got back in the Carolinas to quickly reacquaint myself with the local breweries.

Highland is a top notch brewery for sure. I can usually find the Gaelic Ale in the grocery store around here, lucky me. Their oatmeal porter is good too. My beer-snobbiest friend moved to the west coast last year, and says Highland is the beer he misses the most. I warms my heart to see people 'south of the border' drinking good beer instead of the swill that gets advertised so much and served in the big restaurant and bar franchises down your way The US has the most variety of beer in the world by far. So many craft breweries popping up everywhere. It's an exciting time down here for a beer lover. My favorite Canadian beer? Unibroue. The Fin du Monde, and the Maudite both hold very special places in my heart. Have you seen those, Archie?

It is disgusting stuff. I used to drink it at college cos it was cheap and have many horrible memories of forcing its warm, dishwater-like flavour down my throat. Makes me shiver just thinking of it.
Saying that though I would rather drink it in bucketloads than all that American stuff you call beer like Budweiser (king of beers, seriously? lol) etc. Yuck.

That's why yall think its disgusting. You drink it warm. There are plenty of beers that are good at room temp, and Newcastle is not one of them. It's fairly cheap over here too, at least for something with flavor. When I was in Sheffield at some university pub, I would be the only one drinking the "Spotty Badger Best Bitter", or whatever the hell the local brew was called, and everyone else would have a Budweiser bottle in hand. What was that all about?
