This is very much a work in progress. I started this project as a result of my spousal unit not wanting me to cut into my computer table so I could properly attach my G25 shifter. That coupled with the boredom of being unemployed at the time and having a lot of leftover wood from various other projects it began. I've been lurking on a lot of forums and am always amazed by the creativity of the builders and all of the various ways people make their pits work for them. My particular design criteria was simple:

- Use material I already had around the house
- Function first, beauty can be added later
- Trial and error is ok as I'm not an engineer
- Work for Racing, Flight, and FPS games
- Don't get obsessive about the thing!

I've been successful for 4 out of the 5 criteria. I let you guess at which one I failed at! So I've been working on this for a very long time putting in the time when I can since during the process I've been re-employed and working about 50 hours a week. After working on it for so long I've yet to run out of ideas on how to improve and simplify it. Therefore the finishing; i.e. enclosing and painting is still a long way off and you will notice the crudity of it. However, it works very well for me. I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

The Beginning

Phase 2

Phase 3

Phase 4

Phase 5

Mouse pad and keypad extended(FPS Mode)

Pull out keypad shelf to .......

Expose shifter for racing mode

Remove shifter for flight mode

Very nicely done sir.

Did you have the car seat lying around the house? What did it come out of?

Actually it was lying around the house, as it came from one of my son's car projects. It's out of a Chevy Cavalier.
