The A-10's official name comes from the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt of World War II, a fighter that was particularly effective at close air support. The A-10 is more commonly known by its nickname "Warthog" or simply "Hog". So anyone can tell me why we did get the p-51 and not the p-47? Im just a little bit curious what the connection is with the p-51 (its one of my favorits airplaine!)

because the company/group that owns Eagle Dynamics, owns a P-51.

Why the P51 indeed.
IMHO to divert attention from the fact that Nevada is way overdue and there is nothing tangible on the Fast Mover.

ED wants us all to take the blue pill. I took a blue pill and haven't been able to wear pants for hours. But yeah the P-51 was an odd thing to do unless they have more WW2 stuff in the works.
I refuse to buy a flight sim that I have no interest in playing, on the off chance that MAYBE someday they'll make the one I really want to play.

Why not?
They are still working on the Nevada map and the next jet, I see the P-51 as a showcase for what can be done with the DCS engine. I really hope it receives the success it deserves and motivates other 3rd-party developers to start creating content for DCS world.
Oh, and I absolutely love the DCS P-51, despite all the limitations in the current setting.

So that's where that P-47 went to. Didn't realize it had fallen into British hands. Well, the collection takes good care of it's charges and England is certainly an appropriate place for a Thunderbolt to be flying from. Especially dressed in the colors of the 78th Fighter Group.

Exactly.. why not the P-51? Love it or hate it it is one of the most identifyable and well known WWII aircraft in the world. I t5hink it's a great choice.. and DCS has convinced me thatr I beed to do something that no other sim to date could get me to do.. and that's upgrade my rig... I'm on the "why not" train as long as we're not left forever flying it around Nevada and shooting Su25's. Is there any info as to what they plan to do in the future about this plane? I mean, they cannot leave it at that without other planes from that era to fight with and maps to accompany. I hop ewe get those things to go with the Mustang, even if it takes a year.

Story I heard was this was started just for fun by a couple of devs, ED liked it, and said lets finish it and put it on the market.

Because there is no spoon. I know what you've been doing... why you hardly sleep, why you live alone, and why night after night, you sit by your computer. You're looking for him. I know because I was once looking for the same thing. And when he found me, he told me I wasn't really looking for him. I was looking for an answer. It's the question that drives us
