I bought it because ED has done nothing but spectacular work, and I wish to support them. My 1 hour of stick time review:
The P-51 is beautiful, both visually and FM wise. That new sound engine is something! The first time I hit F3 it really blew me away!
As far as price, comparing it to some of the add-ins for FSX, this is not unreasonable. Fidelity and controls wise, it certainly is right at the top of the heap as far as systems modeling (would expect nothing else from the producers of A-10). Plus, you can shoot things!
I am still concerned at not having other period content, will pretty much limit combat activities to mud moving, especially tragic for the Mustang . . . no real reason to go up high nor much to do while you are up there.
Just flying around in it is a treat though, I will get my moneys worth out of it just learning the systems and how to fly it well.
But holy cow, the engine sound when you so a flyby is something!

the upcoming modules will upgrade your versions of Warthog and Black shark.
Nate
I have a good hint a what the answer will be BUT, does someone knows if they plan to release the upgrade for BS2 and A-10 before, at the same time, or after the P-51 is released?

So let me get this straight, It's $39.99 for a complete Download and you don't have to own any DCS title? and if you do own BS, BS2, A-10 or FC2 it installs into one of those?
Windows 10 Pro Gigabyte 970A DS3P FX AMD FX6300 Vishera 3.5 Ghz ASUS STRIX GeForce GTX 970 Overclocked 4 GB DDR5 16Gb Patriot Viper 3 RAM DDR3 1866Mhz Onikuma Gaming Headset (has annoying blue lights I don't use)

Yep...sort of... the download includes the new DCS common flight sim, called "DCS World". The P-51 addon installs as part of that, and the basic "World" sim comes with an SU-25T - nothing else yet. Apparently patches are forthcoming which will incorporate BS2 and A-10C if you have those already, but as of now they are still separate sims. To back up Ruhroh, the P-51 is a great flyer Possibly the best representation of a warbird in a PC sim yet.

DCS World eh? What they should have done from the start!
Is there any plan to have a DCS World that doesn't require buying P-51? It is already there - download the P-51 torrent - install DCS:-World but not the P-51. You can then fly around in the SU-25T. No purchase necessary. Nate

Curious to see how the World engine differs from the latest A10 or BS2.

Not sure this is right place to ask but is this the only things I have to do to maximize P-51D performance? I have been challenging against AI over 20 times and I cant beat him yet LOL
Throttle to Gate Full forward propeller lever -> RPM 3000
Am I missing something?

You probably have to move the stick a bit and do some of that pilot sh*t too :-)
Sorry, couldn't resist..
-C- What.. is it just me, having hard time beating the AI ...?! Have you (can you) leaned the mixture for altitude? Trimmed the aircraft perfectly? Closed the radiator shutters? Got out and polished the wings? Cheers Keith It looks like mixture has 3 stage. cutoff, run, emergency. According to manual, emergency settings is not something to do with the WEP. I havent used any trimming.. is it required to win dogfight..? Radiator was set it AUTO, I'll try settings it to closed thankyou

It doesn't help that temperature effects are not implemented yet - I assume the AI are running permanent flat out.
As is the player - you need to keep every single drop of energy to have a hope of beating him - even then it is partly luck. Nate

Not being overly familiar with DCS air to air combat (but lots in IL2/RoF etc) but is the new P51 module including anything new in terms of AI combat and manoeuvres? Is the aim for the P-51 to have a true prop furball fight or is that something further down the road?
