Thank you for the suggestion, based on that I ordered "Die Fla-Raketentruppen der Luftverteidigung der DDR: Geschichte und Geschichten" (The SAM-troops of the air defense of the GDR - history and stories)
Given the English and Russian technical terms thrown around in this thread, I already wondered what the equivalent in my native German might be.

I'll tell you after I've read the book, but as far as I know they got rid of them somehow.

I won't be so bold as to hope they make this in English but shame they don't have a Kindle version - I'll buy it and throw the text into Google Translate.

Hi Roady, yes they were for 5N62 radars. There is officially no possibility to go there, but there are a few unofficial ways, like hole in the fence and so.
Part of the base is now a solar power plant, but former combat part is slowly deteriorating.

Here you can find some report from ground expedition (only in Czech): S-200 base

I was also at the former S-75/S-300 base at Kacice u Kladna, but there was nothing interesting, only concrete plates for radar and for launch stations.
The same applies for the former base at Tocna u Prahy (S-125?) which I also visited, but there are some bunkers which can be visited.

Wondering what is PVO of Czech and Germany at the moment... If they drop out S-300, what they have at the moment?

After having a look at the website of the German armed forces they have the PATRIOT system for long range and the new MANTIS AAA system for short range defense.

We have almost nothing, if I am sure we have only 2K12 Kub. The S-300 passed to Slovakia during federation division. Not too much to surprise because the minister of defense was a Slovak.

Here is overview of a few former SAM sites in Czech: Czech SAM

Yeah, I was talking about the Linebacker II. Also, I was wondering about dvina shots not shots from more advanced systems which have measures to hit high speed high altitude jammed targets like the Habu.

We (as Fire Control Officers) are actually sitting in the UV van, bit away from the SNR (Fire Control Radar)...

...but one (SNR) technician had to be on duty all the time, inside the SNR, during battle.

One of my friend, was a SNR technician from a Hungarian Volhov battery.
When he asked his Russian instructor (at Ashuluk), what to do in case of HARM's around, his instructor said: "SNR technicians are just like fuses, they need to be swapped in case of problem arise...".
rolleyes

So our (Fire Control Officers) job is to shout into intercom to JUMP(!!!) for the technician inside of the SNR, during war...

I had a good laugh at it. However, in the sim it seems nearly impossible to jump out of the van before it hits. The harm is just too fast.

Also, I think that video is fake. Or it was some time of test. Highly doubt that it is a real combat scenario.
