Possibly due to the rapid (???) deceleration of the plane?

... but this was the easy part, lets repeat it with the Dvina.
neaner

The fourth missile was launched with UPR guidance.
Could it be that the range boresight was locked on the target just after No4 missile was launched?

Congrats smile
So there are two methods - how to shoot down habu with dvina;
-as piston demonstrated "duck hunt type" biggrin
-range tracking by hand using table "height > evelation > range"

Thanks!

For me hardest was to aquire next target in time, if i cant lock on(targets over clutter) i lose next missile > so i have to do it fast > but by jerking borescope too much incoming missile will oscilliate > so only gentle adjustments..
But anyway amazing experience
I love this sim
salute

Using the table is harder. I'm going to try a shot with one of those. Wonder if I should use K or Half lead...

A bit annoying is switching between Z to check beta/elipson/range lock lamps and to A to lock on.
From this came idea; well.. flight simmers build cockpits to improve their "flying experience";

- what if we had option to assign buttons in SAMSIM to custom controllers, would YOU think about building SAM "cockpit" SNR? biggrin

So there are two methods - how to shoot down habu with dvina;
-as piston demonstrated "duck hunt type"
-range tracking by hand using table "height > evelation > range"

The problems with Dvina/Habu scenarios are (here, from HPASP himself):
Originally Posted By: Hpasp
Here are my thoughts about Dvina vs Habu...

To be able to consistently kill the Habu, the Dvina miss two things...
... jamming burntrough due to the small radar cross section of the Habu, and enough missile overload capability.
For the second, note that the 11DMVK missile could pull a bit more g's than the 11DKU...
11DKU is comparable to the V-755, while the 11DMVK to the 5Ya23.

... but it is also slower a bit.

The RCS of the Habu is lower than the F-105, so if all the jammers are working, no burnthrough.

The radio proxy fuse of the missile would need the following miss distance:

11DKU
30% chance of hit; 140m
50% chance of hit; 130m
80% chance of hit; 115m
100% chance of hit; 60m

11DMVK
30% chance of hit; 220m
50% chance of hit; 205m
80% chance of hit; 180m
100% chance of hit; 95m

cowboy

Note the bold text!
Waht I want to say is that the MAIN problem is the limited G capabilities of the missile. That means that T/T method (which is against jamming target) is not working, because when missile approaches near the SR-71, the missile cannot compensate it's huge speed, and passes behind/below. Because we cannot use RS, the K method is needed to gave us a bit lead, to compensate missile luck of maneuvre... The hand tracking is too jerky here, but in the real engagement I am sure it was done in that way (RS).

In reality, the common "Dvina" wasn't able to provide "a kill" over SR-71 on altitudes more than 18 km, due to his weak transmitter i.e. too late acquiring and tracking the target:

Maybe SA-75M/MK has some "special cards" in her sleeve... wink

Yeah, I was about to say that the reason why we used the K mode was because there isn't any other way. But along the way I forgot the discussion a while back on the SR-71.

Use the table on all other jamming targets though. Unless you are piston, who happens to be able to telepathically tell where the plane is smile

O, yes! In Linebacker the table helps to find where are those BUFF's, and when they are in range - BAM! Take this "pole"!
In fact "Dvina"'s killing range is slightly bigger then her burntrue range against B-52... In fact when the big active noise "shadow" on the screen starts to split on 2 or 3 separated noise areas, it means that B-52's are around 35 km apart... As I read it here, NVA use this to have some situational awareness about incoming bombers....

Question, what is the current "high score" on the Habu scenario? Meaning who has shot and hit closest to the habu?

Hi, I managed 6m with Vega, later I will add AAR and 3DAAR (my first try was at 39m).
