This is so freaking cool. Imagine being one of those guys, whatever a programmer or a simple mortal, and looking at the game. Back in that time it must have been like "holly #%&*$# they're both in a 3D maze shotting each other! This is future stuff!"
And now... we complain because the lighting doesn't look right, or the AK-47 is a little more lethal than we think it should be, and...
When you're feeling sad, just remember that somewhere in the world, there's someone pushing a door that says "pull".

I remember when I played Doom over a network at work and it was amazing that you could both be in the same game Back when F-15 Strike Eagle III was all the rage, my Smooth Operators Squadron got to be friends with a couple of the developers at MicroProse - two computers could hook up via modem or a null modem cable (remember modem strings?). When we told the MicroProse guys that we wanted multiplayer capability they said it was not economically feasible for the "insignificant 5%" (of multiplayer gamers)! All hail the Insignificant Five Percent! WC

I remember when I played Doom over a network at work and it was amazing that you could both be in the same game Those were good times... That was the very first game I played "online" with friends.Followed by the Quake series of games. Back when a game company had to put out a working, quality product because the retarded mentality they have now of "release the game with the bugs and problems and maybe we will patch and fix it later" was not able to be done. Oh to have those times back.
People who think they know everything are very annoying to those of us who do.
