I'm using my new F4AF x65f profile as the template. Inside JFA-18 with the newest TSH I go into the keyboard assignments and after a few keys it seems to go haywire and won't recognize or does only momentarily and then jumps somewhere else in the list. It's like got an evil demon possessing it, or something. Am I the only person with this problem? Some of the keys, like trimming, I need to be able to assign in the list because they aren't normally assigned and the x65f is not very good for when stick pressure is constantly required, as in JFA-18 when landing since the sim doesn't attempt to command a perfect 1G attitude hold state with the gear down. Makes sense, since real Hornet has a standard stick. Anyway, this key assigning thing is going nuts on me. It's really frustrating.

Since I only use CH Products gear for my HOTAS, I may not be addressing your problem accurately. However, I suspect one or more of the following is causing you the problem with the in-program key assignments:

1. If your joystick downloads a program to control JF18 keys/controllers you should reverse that effect. With CH Products, you merely click on either of two buttons in the CH Manager program to do this. You should have an equivalent option.

2. Also, in TSH Manager, you will probably have to unclick the "add second joystick" button and save the resulting configuration. (You can always return to the second joystick configuration when you are done making key assignments in the program.)

When a configuration is downloaded and/or the second joystick feature is in effect in TSH Manager, the Jane's program key assignment is locked and when you try to select a key assignment it jumps back to whatever its locked position happens to be. Following the above directions should unlock it and allow you to make key assignments.

Hope that helps.

Be sure you are creating a CUSTOM profile and saving that one rather than the DEFAULT profile. It shouldn't make a difference, but it is cleaner that way. You could also directly edit the F18Keys.ini file (I think that is the name....) for all your assignments.

I already saved it under a different name and am thus not changing the default.

"Activate buttons on second controller" is not checked.

I'll try some other things and see if I can make it work without having to do lengthy text editing.

My bottom rotary also is not recognized by TSH, just the top one. I wonder if the second throttle axis might be hogging a spot. Since JFA18 can't use the second throttle apparently, I can probably deactivate the registry for it with some little regedits a guy made up for that.

Doesn't seem to like M and D or numpad keys. It doesn't recognize shift+numpad keys that are assigned to the x65f or the M and D, and after a while it's like it thinks keys are being constantly pressed when they aren't. I don't even have a numpad on my laptop and had to create the profile for the Saitek with the onscreen keyboard. Very strange behavior. I wants to keep jumping to certain keys, even with the Saitek disconnected. If I reboot the computer, Janes is fine for a while, then starts doing it again.

There are some keys, particularly numpad + another key like alt or shift, that had to be manually assigned in the key file with Notepad. I determined that the M and D problem was related to using advanced commands. Some anomalies still caused the scrolling screen to go nuts on me, so regardless of whatever reason that was, I just deleted those commands and worked around it. Strange behavior, though, as if keys were being pressed constantly when they weren't. After all that trouble, I probably should have just manually assigned all the default keys within the Saitek profiler instead of using the F4AF profile.
