Just got this, as I mentioned in the other thread.
AEROFLY FS by iKARUS
I ordered this back in December after reading of it here. I e-mailed iKARUS and asked when I might see it, to which they answered that the German version would be out before Christmas. I was happy with that, and even happier when that
actually took place. It arrived but could not be delivered so I only got my hands on it today.
It comes in the usual DVD/CD case, with system requirements printed on the back. They are: Win XP/ VISTA / 7; Memory 2Gb; Processor Intel Core 2 Duo / AMD Athlon 64 x2; Video a 3D card with 512Mb / NVIDEA GeForce 9600GT / ATI Radeon
HD4750 and you'll need 24Gb on the drive to instal it.
My specs are: AMD Phenom(tm) II X6; 8Gb RAM; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti; Win 7 64bit. I have an older MS Sidewinder Pro.
Inside the box are 2 DVD's and a 20 page, well-made, booklet covering installation, configuration and a map of the simulator's terrain.
The installer let me chose English, so I did, although I was expecting it to be German only. After letting it go with the default path and agreeing to the terms and conditions it started to install then hit an error immediately.
I tried again in Deutch I got the same error so let it go by clicking 'Ignor', as it seemed to be just an error copying a not uncommon dll.
I got a clue to the amount of data being loaded by the 56 minutes it took to install!
After installing it didn't automatically so I fired it up from the start menu. The greeting screen offers to let you set up controls, activate (you can fly a limited selection of a/c without), set up realism and check for updates.
I went in and set it for Full-Screen 1920 x 1080 (my native res) and ULTRA detail settings. A quick spin in the default 172 just to check the frame rates and to see if the missing dll will make anything fall over.
Wow. Eyecandy, a great feeling of movement and scenery very detailed and....102 fps! Sound is nice and varies greatly. Scenery is basically a big high-res tile with plenty of trees.
A couple of screens to get started.
All in all, and having played with it for an hour, it's great fun, polished and has great potential.
