Is there a cockpit view? I thought I read that was a limitation of the FS engine. Maybe they fixed that?
Not that I'm complaining, that's a lot of work showing there, and it looks great just the same.

No there is no cockpit view, HUD only as in Wing Commander IV. But that don't ruin the gameplay at all.

The cockpits in FSO engine are possible, check out Diaspora - a BSG themed mod built also on Freespace Open engine (still WIP).

Damson, I am kicking myself for not making the connection as I have seen your name over here at SimHQ. duh I’m “Light” over on the WC:SAGA Beta test forum. Although given that it has been awile since I have been regulerly on SimHQ I can see why I missed it. hahaha

I came over here to see if anyone had posted about the final trailer and release date for SAGA and saw that you had got to it before me. wink

IF you want to enable TRACK IR, you need to grab this .DLL file and put it in your saga main directory:

The only drawback to TrackIR w/ FS2 is the fact that there's no in-cockpit reference. It's possible to add a cockpit, but it's not officially supported, so they're placeholders at best. I still use TrackIR regardless, it's better than nothin'.

does anyone know if this uses the same keyboard layout as freespace 2?
wondering if I can use the CH HOTAS profile for FS2 to play this


PS- anyone else unable to run this game? It crashes everytime I try to begin a campaign from the main hanger bay

Yeah the key layout is similar with the addition of Alt+G for slide, Alt+N for nav points and Alt+A for autonav. I use my regular FS 2 profile on my Cougar for it and it works great.

I do notice you have a newer ATI Card, try the following:

"ATI compatibility: Current ATI drivers contain a bug that prevents certain shaders from compiling correctly. Normals maps will not work on ATI HD 4xxx series or older. Solution: install older ATI drivers (mid June 2010), copy atioglxx.dll into the game's directory, and re-install the new ATI drivers. Newer ATI cards should work properly."
