I'm using my standard profile that I use with most sims on take on helicopters and I always feel like my head isn't quite in the right place.

I can't lean far enough forward to see the gauges properly and my head feels like it's going to bash the side of the helicopter every time I make an aggressive maneouver...

Anyone else feel like this?

I have only had track ir about a month so it's fairly new to me anyway - but i've felt fine in most 6dof sims so far.

Sorry for the vagueness but i'm keen to enjoy this sim to the full!

Thanks

- Alex

Yup, same here. It feels like that the camera position (the other 3dof of the 6dof) is limited to certain positions and makes for some unsettling behavior. I've tried changing my TrackIR profiles and even using exclusive mode to make sure it's selected and working, but no dice.

Good to know i'm not alone... but bad in another sense!

I'll keep messing around and if I find anything that works for me; i'll post it!

I've had similar problems with TIR 6DOF but seem to have found a reasonable profile using the following conservative curves for Pitch and Yaw:

And then this unusual one for Z axis which makes the Z axis have a huge deadzone which is needed by TOH since Z is too sensitive so it only zooms when you really want to Zoom:

For similar sensitivity reasons I leave X and Y and Roll off.

I'm still hoping eventually there is a better TIR support for 6DOF but for now that seems to work ok for me.

Thanks kludger, off to try that. I agree with others that in the small helo's especially the tir feels 'cramped' and more noticeable than other sims I use it for.

I found a way (a simple one) to solve this sort of problem (TrackIR not zooming enough/limited to certain positions):

1- Go to "Options" and than "Controllers"
2- The aproach axis from TrackIR which is "TrackIR -tZ" is assigned by default to "Head Foward (Anlg.)" -> Unassign this command!
3- Set the "Show:" filter to "All controls"
4- Go to the "Zoom in (Continuous)" command and assign the "TrackIR -tZ" axis to this same command ("Zoom in (Continuous)"). Note that there's NO need to assign the "Zoom out (Continuous)" command.
5- Save changes

With this the TrackIR zoom will be much more smooth and the player will be able to aproach the instruments panel and thus be able to read much better the instruments.

Nice find, ricnunes! I'm looking forward to trying that tonight!
