Today I uploaded three Bf109E-4's flown by Adolf Galland. The first is Wrk.Nr 5819 which was his main aircraft from September 1940 and into 1941. The other two are variations of the same aircraft which is almost as much photographed as 5819 although I can't figure out the Wrk.Nr for this one although several more are known... EDIT: Just re-upped 5819 as I realised that by the time the wingroot had been fixed, the rudder had been repainted along with the victorytally. It's fixed now... There might be changes coming to the other two as I just had a brainwave EDIT 2: I've been trying to identify the aicraft in the second and third shot below. It's been photographed enough to make me certain that it must have been Gallands main aircraft for quite some time so it's hard to understand how it's Wrk.Nr wouldn't be known. I then realised that the shots confirmed to show 5819 were all taken in late November 1940 or later although Galland is known to have flown it since September 7:th. It's also interesting to note that in early November Galland flew other aircraft for more than a week and I now believe that during that time, 5819 was taken away for an overhaul and given the new paintscheme as part of the process. So all those other photos show 5819 although in the scheme it wore during its early career. At least that's my theory!

Capt. Farrel (or others), I have a question: I see the Bf 109E-3 skin you did referred to quite often as Walter Blume's "White 13", JG26, of September 1940. Here for instance: http://www.model-art.eu/TECHMOD_48080_148_Messerschmitt_Bf_109_E_3_wmasks-649.html However, elsewhere I see a Walter Blume shot down the month before, on Aug. 18, during "the hardest day": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hardest_Day "Meanwhile Crossley, Karol Pniak and Alan Ackford shared in the destruction of another Bf 109. The pilot, Walter Blume was severely injured and taken prisoner." Is that another Blume? In my video I'd like to just say a little about the pilot of your fabulous skin. Do you have a bio of him?

Ah, found some info myself, including colour pics of Weisse 13 (I guess they are the ones you based yourself on, Cpt?): http://alifrafikkhan.blogspot.com/2011/12/album-foto-messerschmitt-bf-109.htmlIn Indonesian! Well, Google Translate is your friend... "In the summer of 1940, III. / JG 26 Major Adolf Galland leader based at the airfield Caffiers located east of Calais and from there they used to make incursions into British airspace. An engineer officer of III. / JG 26 which was Schödter Rolf Hauptmann is a photography enthusiast, and he took lots of color photos of the unit, some of which is the photo above and the photos afterwards. This photo shows the Bf 109 E-4 "Weiß 13", flown by Leutnant Walter Blume of 7.Staffel. Parts of the engine cover has been removed, while the former looks at the closing hole shot machine guns that have been placed on the ground. This indicates that the aircraft is exposed to damage in battle, and a technician is seen to record how severe the damage is. Messerschmitt Bf 109 flown by Leutnant Walter Blume of 7 Staffel. Four black bars on the wings of victory behind the wheel indicates that the photo was taken between the date of July 25, 1940 (fourth victory achieved by Blume) and August 15, 1940 (when he was caught). Also look here the identity of the yellow marker that was introduced by Luftflotte 2 in early August 1940. Tokay colored marker is smeared around the tip of the wing, horizontal stabilizer and the outside, in some cases, at the top of the wing behind the wheel. The existence of this amber marking indicates that the photo above was taken in the first two weeks of August 1940. Marking yellow seems not smeared with professionals. For example, a triangular yellow paint on the top of the wing rear wheel around a little spill over into the vertical stabilizer. Also there is little difference between the yellow triangle on the wing behind the wheel (more orange) in yellow on the other (yellow thok). For a color photo as above is not an issue as clearly visible, but the thing that is available is black and white photo! That there is an error in the identification of publishing books on the Luftwaffe in the past, because in black and white photographs reddish yellow color is more similar to the color red. Note also the tactical number is smaller than usual, which is typical of III. / JG 26, as well as the hearts of 7 Staffel emblem located on the engine cover which lay 'ngaceng' under the wing tip. As previously described, in the wing behind the wheel of the four bars we could see the victory (the first two red, two black hereinafter). This is quite surprising, because the four Blume achieved victory against the RAF on the Western Front. Marking on the top of the crossbar is generally shaped like a badge, but it is round with a description of the date of any winnings in it. Bf 109 aircraft uses the standard camouflage pattern in 1940. Here we can also see a half-hearted attempt to disguise Balkenkreuz emblem on the wing by using a straw. The presence of straw remaining on the ground indicates that it is a normal thing to do. In the background there is a plane Klemm 35 Gruppe which has also been polished with a straw. On 18 September 1940, just days after this photo was taken, Bf 109 aircraft piloted by Lt. Walter Blume was shot down by Hurricanes of 32 Squadron on a mission near the Canterbury during the invasion of England. He was badly injured in emergency landing attempt, while the plane itself was destroyed. Blume returned to Germany in exchange for German prisoners-the British in 1943 and became active again flying. He recorded 14 victories again until the war ended. [Some errors in this part, with two dates given for Blume's capture, both of them wrong. I believe the wikipedia info that says he was captured on Aug. 18 is trustworthy.] After the repair is completed, a Luftwaffe ground crew fill the tank of glycol from "Weiß 13". Notice the red charging instructions compositions written by hand in the tank pit: "Charging ... 50% water, 50% glycol, 1.5% preservative fluid." Clearly visible bullet holes in the protective layer that kept the machine gun in the foreground. Form of the hole indicates that the shots came from behind. Note also the emblem of JG 26 Geschwader and a black spinner. Strangely enough work to fill this tank gets control of a civilian dressed in overalls!"
