I suppose my questions are sort of flight related as it's subjects are Ducks. All ducks quack.

Questions:

Would a UK duck understand the quacks of a French or German duck ?

Both humans and ducks evolved in different areas of the world, but a human would not understand communication from another human from a different area without learning that language.

Don't ask what made me think of this, I've obviously got too much time on my hands........

I don't know about ducks per se but at least some song birds such as sparrows have local dialects within the same species. In other words their songs vary from region to reion. The chicks have to hear their parents sing in order to learn their regional dialect.

For the life of me I cannot understand what all those Canadian geese are quacking about when they fly over. They must be French-Canadian.

Actually whale songs are particular to the group they are in. IIRC these groups typically consist of about 40 animals.
