I've turned into my dad when all I ask is "who the heck is that". All I really wanted to do was watch the Foo Fighters play and see if by some strange reason they would win album of the year. Now I find myself watching it out of morbid curiosity.
Does anyone outside of country music, and the odd rock artist actually play an instrument anymore?
OVER....Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Sure there are. They just don't get the awards they deserve because of these whackos like Lady Gaga who get tons of applause for crap music. (She can sing, I'll admit that, but her music and lyrics blow).

Yawn. I don't think I've watched more than 20 minutes of a Grammy broadcast since the 1990's.

Fooeys won, i love the Fooeys..but Metal and rock need to be a seperate category. Megadeth and Fooeys going for the same award..shouldnt happen In the 90s i thought they went to a seperate award ? Useless
Remember when Jethro Tull won for best hard rock performance back in 89..maaaan lol, what a joke.

I'd say that outside of R&B and the more bubblegum pop (especially female singers), nearly everyone plays. A lot of R&B and pop stars don't have "bands" per se, they use session musicians for recording and take a different group of musicians on tour. The spotlight is on the singer & dancers, not the guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, and drummer the tour manager hired at the union hall.

I think Sting, Paul McCartney and Geddy Lee are exceptions to that.
