Dart, what engine does the kit use, and what (if you dont mind me asking) will the entire plane cost once fully assembled and tarmac ready? I am strongly considering buying the 3/4 size P51 kit from another manufacturer but still have much research to do. Can you give us some idea on total amount of hours required to complete the airframe (including engine mounting and electronics)? Also, what would you have in it to house it or park it for one year at a nearby airport ?

Thanks - WD

(check PMs also, when you get a moment)

If you can defeat me in a fair same altitude duel, you are either Hartmann's ghost or you have a ganja problem that needs treatment.

Like asking weird questions and are good at math? Maybe you can join us at the Jacobs School of Engineering, UC San Diego. Tackling the grand mysteries of the age with science.

At the core of most of life's deep mysteries, is the language that Mother Nature truly speaks in, ..... mathematics.

I'm opting for a Valley Engineering V-twin with a PRSU and prop.

Total cost will be under 14K USD - I'm shooting for 12.5 but we all know what can happen there once tools and extras get thrown in to the final talley.

Haven't really kept track of man-hours, but I'll be pretty close to the 400 advertized I reckon....mostly because I do a lot of thinking and remeasuring when standing at the build table.

The big thing is that one really can build this plane in the space of a single car garage (or less) using standard hand tools (with a few exceptions that don't cost very much).

Bear in mind I'm staying within the plans! Modify beyond the purely cosmetic and the price and time can skyrocket.

I'm going to paint it in the French three color camouflage pattern, as dark aircraft show up better against the sky in the pattern and the roundels scream against the ground. Getting run over because my plane cruises at 60 MPH and stalls at 35 is a real concern.

I really like Baracca's N.11, and hey, the stallion on it was what inspired Ferrari to put one on his cars... smile

Also those wing under-surfaces should help you keep track of left and right, unless you're daltonic!
