I flew with them countless times on my business trips around Europe, and I was quite happy with the quality therefore I was proud of it.
If I try not to be emotional (which is not easy being a Hungarian), I understand that from business point of view it was far from being successful.
Still...

Apparently there is still a lot of instability in the global airline industry. American Airlines wil be laying off 13,000 employees as part of its Chapter 11 reorg.

What a shocking news. A very sad day for the Hungarians. A round of world.

I was using the Malev very often back at the time and it was always a nice trip.

(edit)
I just heard, the Malev stuff had a moody day in Ferihegy Budapest airport and Hungarians were crying openly.
The 'old-school' Malev-pilots were giving a tearful good byes for their well served airplanes as well.

The very last Malev flight was from the Helsinki, Finland to the Budapest. The captain was saying to the ATC something like a 'This is it.... I hope we meet again someday.'

Hairaa Malev s Magyar!

Well, I couldn't resist to post another photo.
This is one of the DASH Q 800s Malev had, in a vintage paintjob.
