Heard a radio talk-show host today say that he was playing in the backyard with nerf dart guns, his 6-year-old and a Navy SEAL buddy (Marcus Latrell).
The SEAL popped off a shot that hit the boy in the face. It's a light piece of foam that did no damage, but the boy began to cry. The talk-show host did the typical daddy thing: "Hey there buddy, let me take a look. There there, it's not so bad".
His SEAL friend smiled at the boy and said "Cowboy up because I'm reloading and I'm gonna shoot you in the face again." His son grinned, reloaded and took off running.
This is my new motto for whiners now. I'm tired of the degradation of resilience in our society. Political Correctness is ruining us and I aim to misbehave.
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." -- Ephesians 6: 12-13 KJV

I've had my share of metaphorical nerf darts to the face.

We used to say to people who were starting to whine " go ahead, just go and say it; ... my pussy hurts".
Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

I was continually groaned at throughout my military career for claiming to like adversity. I'd wait until they were all whining and then start saying things like, "I like it! I don't see what you're all complaining about, this is fun. And remember what Nietzsche said,'That which does not kill me makes me stronger,' and it's true! Give me the radio, I'm going to ask them to...[in some fashion make it worse]." This would be followed by a mad scramble to keep me from getting hold of the radio, half of them shielding it with their bodies, the other half dog-piling onto me to prevent me from making any radio calls they'd hate. It got to the point where nothing had even happened when we started out and they were already saying things like, "And don't you even start that 'I like it!' sh*t! You're a crazy sumb*tch and nobody else wants to hear it!" I also liked to volunteer us for anything and everything. I once raised my hand to volunteer and the guy looking for volunteers said, "You don't even know what the hell I want yet!" I told him, "I don't care. I'll do it!" I had a great deal of fun doing that over the years, and was considered half mad by a lot of people for doing it. But I can't stand whining. Whining never improved a bad situation. And I felt it was my duty to represent the opposing view in all things. Cheers! Rick...

I used to poke at my buddies by saying " you know the difference between me and you ? You pretend you like this stuff while I actually do ".

And for some reason OG, I completely believe that statement. Will use that while I am on the boat this time and it gets really rough, because sometimes I actually do like it.

Look for me on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or Tic Toc...or anywhere you may frequent, besides SimHq, on the Global Scam Net. Aka, the internet. I am not there, never have been or ever will be, but the fruitless search may be more gratifying then the "content" you might otherwise be exposed to.

Yeah, I guess I'm a sick pup in a way, because I always had fun. I wouldn't have made a career of it if I didn't like it. The biggest thing that scared me was the idea of getting out, going home, and becoming a clinically depressed, hopeless wage slave like the people who inspired me to join the military in the first place. When people complained, I used to tell them, "Hey! At least we're not selling shoes down at J. C. Penneys and waking up without hope day after day after day!" I still look back and miss it. Retiring was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. But I have found other things to do, and I'm still not selling shoes for a living! Cheers! Rick...

I used to love going to the field simply because we actually got to get dirty and DO something, instead of shining boots, pressing uniforms, and picking up cigarette butts. It's also why I hated going to Graf or Hohenfels while in Germany, because you'd be there for a month and be lucky if you spent 10 days in the field. My battery spent a month at 29 Palms in 1997, and it was the best time I had in the army short of Desert Shield/Storm - 25 or so days on the post and we spent 21 in the field. Why the hell join the military if you don't like training for your wartime mission?
