You haven't experienced this P-51 I am not very excited about this either. Although I suppose this will appeal to a lot of folks to see this in the DCS environment, there are also many us that have experienced the P-51D in many other sims.

Bought every ED sim to date, will give this one a miss 'though. Already have the IL2 series to fight in them and FSX for flying them around. As for FSX flight models not being realistic? Just invest a couple of dollars / euro's / currency X and you can get it to an incredible level. A2A has some very good WW2 planes (granted, no P-51 Accusim yet) and I really don't see the point of a P-51 in a modern war scenario. That is what the A-10C is for.
Kasper A2A is great as you obviously know but I feel the DCS go at the pony is dipping their toes look at the market. What happens if the clod sequel fails (and why people keep on thinking its the moscow theatre is interesting), the WWII market is wide open. Uhhh...because the developer announced on their forums that the next one was 'Battle for Moscow'? I just don't see the CloD series failing. While CloD has some issues, it's already a far better game than IL-2 for the aircraft and theater it models. It's just that the aircraft and theater it models are very narrow at present, but that's changing.

LoL, this is going to be a sim that I buy, try to fly around for a few weeks. Might even get her off the ground once or twice, then try to turn, stall, spin, die, get mad and throw stuff, do it all over again tomorrow. Should, and I mean should, I ever actually land, I will give up on sims forever. Safe to say, it'll never happen, but I will still buy this one no doubt. They ever come along with an F6F in this 'Flying Legends series' and that will be a day one buy for me as well.

Ahh CLOD never in the history of Simming has so much been promised and so little given.
However I want to thank Team Fusion for keeping the Dream Alive.

Well, this is a head-scratcher, and no mistake.
What's the point of this?
As small a market as the flight sim community is, it's already pretty segregated by period.
Do they really think they are going to tempt away any pilots currently flying the Il-2 series? Or the soon-to-be 'World of Planes' series?
I don't get it. Jane's Combat Sims (RIP) and Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator (RIP) proved capably that - even at the heyday of interest in flight simulators on the PC - there wasn't room for more than one company covering a specific period to be profitable... I disagree Xander think of it as a Field of Dreams type thing "If you build it they will come". If you provide the people with a good Hi fidelity simulator of a WW2 aircraft people will flock too it especially after the COD Debacle that has become Maddox Games.
Ahh CLOD never in the history of Simming has so much been promised and so little given.
However I want to thank Team Fusion for keeping the Dream Alive.

Where did ED say that this is just an ADD ON Flyable to DCS A10C/BS2? I would imagine it would be a standalone release, with its own, missions, campaigns, enemies and allies correct for that period.
"While the P-51D started as an internal technology demonstration, it has evolved into an independent product that adds an all new dimension to the DCS universe."
"The P-51D will be the first aircraft in the Flying Legends series"
I highly doubt ED would build these aircraft without a period environment for them to fly in. That would make no sense whatsoever.
I think ED just entered the WWII combat sim arena.
Since all the planes fly on the DCS engine, why not have the ability for them all to fly together in a multiplayer environment? Why would they not? I guess that would be up to the mission designers to figure out how that will work.. But judging by the queries raised and the replies by ED and their test team, this is exactly what it is........a high fidelity Mustang integrated into the existing environment. It sounds very much like an aircraft release only. If that definitely is the case then to me I'm sure the flight model will be outstanding but it means the combat element is pretty much pointless until more aircraft from that era, a theatre and ground targets from that era arrive......if that is the the end goal. Mustang v Mustang is not really a multiplayer option other than to create an online ladder, Mustang v A10 or BS will get boring very quickly and won't appeal to everyone. I truly hope that there is a new campaign element that involves content from its own era. Its a confusing release to me and one that won't flourish until more DCS Legends arrive..........but even then the title suggests that a 'Legend' could come from any era and won't necessarily integrate into existing content which provides anything other than a great flight model regardless of the weapons platform.

I just hope we stop this ´better than A2A´ talk - besides being arrogant it is foolish. You haven't experienced this P-51 I am not very excited about this either. Although I suppose this will appeal to a lot of folks to see this in the DCS environment, there are also many us that have experienced the P-51D in many other sims. This new add on might end up being a good product and ED should aim at marketing as a first try, lets hope it is something worth us spending our money in.

I just hope we stop this ´better than A2A´ talk - besides being arrogant it is foolish. Having regard to videos illustrating various products, it leaves a person wondering why it has to date not been modelled correctly. Neither arrogance nor foolishness - a mere observation.

Kasper CAS, The military has been toying around the idea for a prop plane for CAS in Afghanistan. Its slow and has fire power. Modern jets are too fast.
