They are? Since when did a JG have 1879 fighters on strength? A JG typically had an establishment strength of ~120 to ~160 a/c depending on if the JG had 3 or 4 Gruppen.

During the time period Sept-Dec 1943, for example, the 4 Gruppen of JG51 had 127 a/c on strength at the beginning of the month (not counting Stab JG51 and 15./JG51).
