HI guys i saw that ACER produces a small LED projector (Model C20) with a native resolution of 854 x 480 the MSRP is around 200$. i Was wondering if is possible to use 3 of those projector to display outside world or if the resolution would be too Low.
Another idea that i had was to use it as HUD (instead of the BW 5" TV that i was planning to use) source, and using i to project the HUD graphics on some kind of self made combiner, if the focus is set to infinity it could work like the real thing.
I already have a "real" projector 1024*768 native resolution but is noisy and uses a lot of power.
Any suggestion is welcome.

The resolution and brightness are likely too low.

People using three 800 by 600 projectors complained about the poor resolution when configuring panoramic displays spanning 135 degrees, IIRC. That was using projectors with 1000 lumen outputs. The C20 has only a 20 lumen output. To get adaquate brightness you'd have to use quite small screens. You may as well use LCD monitors.

Here's some HUD info: http://www.mikesflightdeck.com/hud/head_up_displays.html

thanks for the suggestion i was planing to use 40" screens in a semi dark room, what would be a acceptable solution for a triple monitor setup? I would use projector for outside view only for instruments I'm planning to use a 19" monitor for the main panel( dials and MFDS), my Ipad for the caution panel and my iPhone for the DED with a physical ICP that will be also the HUD housing.
DO you think is feasible? I'm planning to use moistly Falcon 4 and DCS a10 so I'm looking for some sort of hybrid/ multi purpose cockpit inspired by both of the planes.

With 40" diagonal screens at 854x480 res, I calculate 4.75 sqft. A unity gain screen lit up by 20 lumens only gives you 4.2 foot-Lamberts screen brightness. This will look dim since it has to compete with light from other devices and any other ambient light in the room.

A commercial movie theater aims for 14 foot-Lamberts for peak image highlights and that's in a dark room with dark furnishings and wall coverings.

Since you'll have other light in the room, I'd recommend a much larger projector output for that size screen. 100 lumens would give you peak highlights of 21 foot-Lamberts.

For the specific details about Falcon and DCS A10, I recommend scanning the Viperpit and Eagel Dynamics DCS forums.

Thanks again, so could still use the c20 as hud generator with a 5"~7" max projected dimension on the combiner (if it does not work i cam use it to watch movies on the go, so money are not wasted but i buy 1 instead of 4), my XGA native projector set up to 80" 16/9 to compensate the lack of the side ones is a viable solution in the meantime while i decides beweeen multi monitor (3x 24 inch is the max that i can afford) and single/ multi projector (i'm evaluating possibilities here)?
I saw the link for the HUD that you sent me (actually i already knew it, it was what inspired me to build the thing).
