I was running ProCon at some point last night - whether or not it was running when it happened, I don't remember. But there could be a connection there.

Hi.

When BF3 first came out we had an official BF3 night. Are there any plans for another event?

Usually there is a core group that gets together for some pickup matches in the evening (US time), but otherwise, it seems the platoon members are off doing their own thing.

I guess my questions are:

Do SimHQ platoon members want to play bf3 with each other?

What types of events would players like to participate in?
Informal pickup games, more formalized squad vs squad matches, specialty matches (pistols and knives only, infantry only, etc.)

When is the best day/time to have events? I understand that we have players all over the world. Maybe there could be European friendly and North American friendly time of day events.

I'm having a great time with the guys I usually play with during the pick up games. I've met (virtually) some SimHQ members that I never really came into contact with before. However, I would really like to see some huge Intra-platoon matches. I think it would be cool to see a full server filled (16v16) with SimHQ members. Heck, I would even be geeked with a 12v12 matchup. Surely, in a platoon of 100, we can get 24 people to agree on a day/time for an event? smile

Who's with me? 50cal

BTW, is there a reason why some people don't join the SimHQ Teamspeak channel when they play BF3? Even if you don't have a mic, it may be beneficial to teamwork to hear what's going on.

Thanks for reading.

I'm generally up for it. The most fun I have on BF3 tends to be on the SHQ server. I think the communication TS3 provides really helps to add to the experience. On most of the other servers I tend to revert to the COD lonewolf syndrome more often unless I manage to hook up with a squad that seems to want to work together...but then it's still a bit more difficult without the comms.

I'm EST in the US, so anytime from 7 PM to 11 PM during the week and until 2 or 3AM on most weekends is fine with me. (Or even earlier afternoon start times on the weekends would be doable.)

I'm with you saghen. I feel the same way. I'd prefer to play with SimHQ guys on the SimHQ server but its hard getting folks together. My best times tend to be during the week later in the evening Easter U.S. time.

But we try getting stuff started in the SimHQ server and hardly anyone is there. So we end up creating a party and then therefore the SimHQ guys can stick together and go join a more populated server.

Im on a shutdown 7/12s till at least mid january but will still occasionally be on and put up a party, itd be best if we could get at least 8 guys regular, but I can tell thats not gonna happen, also would someone post on BF3s forums requesting the ability to make bigger squads...........say 6 to 8 would be much better.I plan to post about this as well...

I've gotten a few PMs about dedicated BF3 nights. My problem is that my schedule is somewhat erratic, so I can't always guarantee I'll be around on a particular night to host. But, unlike ArmA, BF3 requires less 'governance' in the sense that you don't really need an admin present to jump on and play. So, anyone is free to pick a night and go for it - if an admin can be on to keep an eye on things, so much the better.

Thanks for the feedback folks... unfortunily the participation doesn't justify 130 bucks for 3 months out of my own pocket, so at the end of the 3 month rental, it will end. (I guess you can still join together and find servers together.)

Thxs.

For what it’s worth (I’m not sure when the three months are up) ... could you change the map rotation Magnum? It seems like you have one map rush + conquest, then the next map rush + conquest etc. Four rounds on the same map gets pretty monotonous.

Maybe do Karkand conquest, Oman rush, Wake conquest, Sharqi rush, Oman conquest, Karkand rush etc etc ... you catch my drift?

Merry Christmas by the way ... it’s been a fun year butting heads with ya santa

Thank you for your dedication, commitment and giving us the opportunity to play together under the SimHQ umbrella.

It is greatly appreciated.

I wish it would have been more of a Tactical gameplay as moving together as a fireteam, this game is "American Army" to the square. The prospect of possibilities and combinations put a smile on my face.

That was a positive experience.

Just sorry we did get to see you on the field more often!

I wish you and your family a happy hollidays!

I'm one of those 100...

Once I'm back in the States I will be joining you guys for mind-numbing violence. I can sometimes get a 300ms ping on European servers but I rarely get <1200 ping back to the US. Once I'm back, I look forward to killing nubs by the side of my fellow SimHQers.

I think I was number 100! Whew!

I have played a fair bit on SimHQ JTF and have brought a few friends - but have to say that quite often, it does not appear on my favorites list. Are there times when the server is off the air, or an issue with crashing?

I run another 20-slot public server (Multiplay CreakyWarriors BF3) so I can appreciate the costs - hard for me to justify on an ongoing basis. Some of my friends are kicking in some dollars to help. I am sure "we of the 100" could also contribute if there was a convenient (PayPal) way to do so. Or perhaps when your term expires Magnum, someone else will just volunteer to book the next 3 months at their expense.

Many thanks to Magnum, admins, and players on this server - I have had a lot of fun and a minimum of jerks here. My only request would be a little less Grand Bazaar, please and thank you.

It does not apear on your favorites when the game mode is changed.

All is needed is to do a search with SimHQ and it appears on your main list again, then click the favorite button. Changing Game mode might conflict with your filters, it does not mean it is crashed!

What do you guys think about not using heavy armor (namely tanks with IR) before having at least 8 guys on the SimHQ server?

I like that idea. With a small amount of people, my usual group just calls it foot soldiers only and we concentrate on a particular point. I know you probably can't do that in the setup though.

Sounds fair to me. I'd like to try infantry-only sometime, too.
