Well, I was glad to see her again, but then noticed that AA is not applied and getting annoyed again.

We assume that the most common reaction to the screenshots will be “why the heck do we need that, why didn’t you work on XYZ instead”. We almost decided to skip the screenshots altogether, but then decided that we’ll get the same reaction if we post nothing as well. So we decided to post these anyway – and we’ve got our asbestos suits on.

I have to say that until the most basic features in CloD are fixed I have absolutely zero interest in anything related to a sequel/addon/whatever.

We know that 2011 was not the best year in simulation history.

Actually it was pretty good year. DCS:A-10C, BMS, TakeOn: Helicopters, RoF and Railworks growth, awesome update to SB PRO PE. Don't know what they are talking about :P

For me it depends. If this sequel integrates with CloD and fixes all these problems, then I'll get it. A patch/upgrade and new stuff all in one. I won't be a stickler that they fix CloD for free first and THEN I'll buy the new one.

However, if for some reason this goes the Il-2:FB route, with no integration possible because "too many" changes were made, so in effect it's a standalone with the problems gone but CloD is left alone...I don't know. That would mean BM (I like that as the successor to CLOD) would be like Flaming Cliffs 2...it solves the problems, but it doesn't actually help the first title and things like missions and campaigns you were frustrated with/couldn't finish before would stay that way.

In that case, their only real option is to make BM cheaper for owners of CloD, just like ED made FC2 1/2 price for LOMAC owners, and BS2 1/2 price for BS1 owners. If BM doesn't integrate with CloD, then it better be only $25 or so for me.

The remaining 2 options are flipsides of the same coin: integrates with CloD but doesn't fix much/enough, or standalone but STILL needs fixes. In both those cases, I pass.

I think they may be as disappointed as we are that things were not done properly, good thing this isn't a Japanese company or there would be a lot of guys falling on their swords. But I'm sure we won't have to worry about the sequel abandoning Cliffs this isn't LOMAC/FC/FC2+BS that was an old game to start with and they are rewriting the Graphics engine and that to me would mean that the Sequel would presumably be written in the same engine.

Well, to look at the positive side of the BoM theatre.......lots of places to belly land if needed......

I'm encouraged that work goes on which includes CoD. As a beta tester for the old Fighter Duel series, it was devastating to have work cease abruptly when funding was pulled. As stated elsewhere, here's looking to what 2012 brings to Cliffs of Dover! thumbsup

I wouldn't read too much into these screenshots - they were taken in the tools (not in the actual game engine).

I'm actually disappointed - that BoM isn't further along. I would have loved to see a Mig-3 over a snowy field... unfortunately, it looks like they are focussed on improving the engine rather than integrating content frown

You're probably right, but the same was said before cod launch - these are screens from tools, this is just a beta, etc.

Without a good working engine any content is worthless!

Personally 'son of IL2' doesn't cook my cookies (same kites, same maps, more rivets and trees), but I hope they take the chance to introduce careers, medals, dynamic campaigns.

Ah, no matter how it looks, I'll buy it. Sigh. I always do.

While it's nice seeing those IL2 shots yeah I was kind of hoping to see some screens of it "in action", on a real map blowing stuff up.

The game engine including the new graphic engine will have to be sorted before they can have new aircraft over new terrain with AA and AF. We will probably see a COD beta patch featuring atleast the new graphic engine long before the sequel is ever released. Unless the sequel if very close to release which highly doubtfull.

That's exactly it.

Has anyone seen a timeframe for BoM to arrive?

Never in the history of flight simming have so many cared so much about a flight simulator they care so little for. I guess worthwhile pursuits are in short supply for some...

Great to see the old Il-2 again. Hope the mice won't be biting chunks out of its wings this time round. smile
