You're asking that question here? I don't see too many FPS fans around here any more IMO, you cant have tactics without communication so my vote for best tactical shooter is Red Orchestra 2 since it has an excellent VOIP system and great gun dynamics. If Battlefield 3 had a good VOIP system, Id have to pick it over RO2 because theres just so much more fun to be had with it. BF3 gets my best action shooter vote though. My vote for best coaster goes to my MW3 DVD

No real tactical shooters that have been released... Closest would be as stated above...RO2 or BF3 (both in multiplayer, SP would not work, ai too stupid)..with some voip. Pretty dismal..what was last years? or the year before that? What was the last true tactical shooter released? Not mod, but full on game?

Yup. Its been a long time. I really miss the mission preplanning phase in the original Rainbow Six series. SWAT 4 was also an awesome tactical shooter where you could actually arrest people instead of just shoot them to death When I wanted to clear a room, I used to love stacking a couple guys at one door and taking my other guy to another door and breach the room simultaneously. Try and do that with a shooter these days LOL! Anyway, I think you can play any multiplayer shooter tactically. Theyre just not making it very easy for us these days ...

You're asking that question here? I don't see too many FPS fans around here any more Not necessary Dirt. Why? Everyone in this forum is complaining about FPS's these days. Seems relevant to me.

There are still decent FPS games coming out, there just aren't tactical ones. There was the hope of GR: Future Soldier, but PC version was canned, so how good can that be? R6: Patriots...I don't think so.

There's going to be Ghost Recon Online for PC though. Being MMO it will be much more tactical in nature than the console version could ever be.
*Edit: Unless of course "Tactical" = lol milsim

Best Tactical Shooter?.... It is how you play it! not what it says on the box!...So, show me the best Tactical Shooter around and I'll ask him what new 2011 virtual training tool he has been using!... Then again, it is not the size, but how...etc, etc... So, what new platform best lends itself to practice some tactical skills in 2011?...BF3, RO2, COD, Sniper Ghost Warrior, Homefront, OP Flashpoint... So Magnum*, what's the best 2011 platform that best lends itself to practice some tactical skills ? *He is the best Tactical Shooter around

RO2 or APB Reloaded.
RO2 is more realistic of course but APB presents far more interesting tactical situations due to the large maps, moving objectives and the need for transport between objectives. It doesn't look "tacticool" but it's one of the most teamwork intensive shooters I've ever played.

So Magnum, what's the best 2011 platform that best lends itself to practice some tactical skills ? People will hate me for this... but thou it does have serious problems, and bad history... to answer that question... IMO... OFP Red River... best damn squad and fireteam realism THIS year, with good AA and AT support. Ouch!

Just wondering... from our members here at SimHQ... what do you believe was the best tactical shooter (if any) released in 2011 and what was the best action shooter (tons of them, lol) released in 2011... RELEASED in 2011... and why? (and did you really play it or just talking out of your arse? lol)
Also, while were here... thou wrong forum... best RTS released 2011 and why...
Best action shooter: Fear 3 Best tactical shooter: Red Orchestra 2 Best RTS: Men of War: Assault Squad

funny PM... I bought all three of those and didn't care for any, lol... FEAR 3 didn't seem to grab me like the first 2, gave up on it after about an hour or so. RO2 was/is good, maybe great but so many damn patches were coming out, sometimes 2 a day...was impossible to keep the server up, retired it for a few months till ripe. Tried to get into Men of War that was one of the hardest RTS games i ever played... dying over and over on the first mission, finally gave up on that. Best Action: BF3 Best Tactical Shooter: Red River Best RTS: CMBN IMO
