Again, as quoted from the Dev:
14. Will you do further work on weather effects (rain, thunderstorm and so forth)?
Quote: Yes, for the sequel.
Note that he didn't say "Yes, for the sequel and a patch will be available for CLOD"
I'm not sure how else we are supposed to interpret this. One thing I know is the faithful won't let stated facts from the devs get in their way. They will spin it into some other hidden meaning that favors their point of view. I believe you are mistaken in your interpretation, Force10. Yesterday there were people believing the patch will never be released and that CoD development was halted - all because someone misunderstoof Black Six. He reiterated his comment today saying the BETA patch MAY be out by the end of the year. After that, at some heretofore unknown time maybe - two weeks, maybe two months - the FULL patch will be released. He also said CoD is STILL being worked on. Just because he didn't say that "Yes, for the sequel and a patch will be available for CLOD" doesn't mean it won't be released as a patch for those who chose to not purchase the Moscow add on..... I don't know if I'm one of the blind faithful, or someone who thinks that their bottom line is quickly coming up to crush any future add ons.... IE - their jobs. While I'm not overly critical of how things have panned out, I'm fully aware of the state of the game and peoples expectations being dashed. What sort of collateral does 1C have to protect them now. Their reputation has been tarnished. Even I won't be as forgiving should the future installment not include corrections for the current sim. I can't see how they could be that blind as to not see that the current simmers are very aware of what has transpired, and will not put up with BS. It would be suicide. For me the knowlege that they've moved to new offices and hired folks on is a good sign. They may need to try to release BfM as quickly as possible to add cash to the investment. I can understand that. I don't think it means it has to be at the detriment of CoD - especially if that are going to be merged....... Thaough that hasn't been officially commented on. Seeing as how difficult it has been for communication on simple matters I can understand the importance of how difficult and probably too costly for a banana forum ENGLISH SPEAKING liason. It's something we could use there, but lets be real. Is it cost effective to babysit ~ 200 or so whiners and praisers? I doubt they's liason for all of 1C's forums. Doing it for one niche market? IDK. It's a tough nut, I'm willing to see what information appears before I get wound up though. If it takes a few months I can wait. Anger's not going to solve anything - at least until we receive a firmer commitment to where CoD is heading.

That narrows it down. Merged and/or standalone. You dont say (note we'll ignore the daft opening. the insults are creeping back, eh?) When you merge the sims you will have the same features including dynamic weather. Pure supposition, not withstanding several changes of direction, personnel changes, and whatever. If you wish to take the past as indicator for the future, then please take account of the past of this game, as well as its predecessor. They are also still working on a patch for COD, only the most jaded would say that the developer would withhold dynamic weather from COD. But that has been the mantra of the doom and gloom crowd. Again, you dont know, pure supposition. GroundHog Day, we've been here before. And I suppose I'm duty bound to add that the above is the mantra of the must-succeed-at-all-costs-and-this-teaspoon-is-the-world-brigade. A bit of balance in the insults department. And you started it I sometimes get the feeling that the devs could announce they are going to abduct the children and grandparents of everyone who has ever bought the game, and turn turn them into purple catfood, and there would be an apologia along the lines of this being good for continued specialist flight-sim development, and the community as a whole, provided they can only sit still and show the required faith. Me, I'm still waiting for a semblance of the BoB game that was promised...oh, how many months back...? Ben

Your right dynamic weather probably won't make the COD patch, but not because the developer won't release it for COD. I don't think the feature will be useable until its highly optimized and they find fps room after the graphic, and sound rewrite. If its ready I'm sure they would release it with the COD patch, but I'm not so sure it will even make the BfM sequel. This will be the situation for all features during the life of the series, features will be added as and when they work with playable frame rates. It may not be fast enough for some, but it is what it is.
The future of the series will depend on system stability, decent fps, useable Commands and how AI respond in the merged COD, BfM sequel. I believe there will be plenty of time for a few more COD patches before the sequel is ready for release. Even some of the features planned for the sequel will be available to beta test within a COD beta patch.

I would like to see a couple of patches come out that makes CLOD a solid title before they release a sequel. I just hope pressure from Ubisoft doesn't screw it up again. Ubi's decision to push it out early may have done the most damage to this title, and it might not recover from it.

I don't believe UBISOFT is solely to blame or anyone else for that matter. IC publishing, Maddox Games, UBISOFT, have spent millions of dollars, and it came to point where no one was willing to keep financing the project. Then they had to make a choice. a. Cancel the project b. Release what was done, get some monies back, and cancel the project, like others have done. c. Release what was done, hope they generate enough monies to help continue work on COD and sequels Obviously they chose (c) but there is still a good chance it could be canceled if things don't get better. Personally I'm glad they chose to keep working on it. My investment is minimal.

From my software management experience once a development team is focused on a new development system (BOM, the new game), the old development system (COD) is not supported. Who wants to waste manpower and money to fix problems, test, and integrate the old system? Who wants to spend wasted money on a old dead end system?
Can management afford both a new development team for BOM and old maintenance team for COD?

Can management afford both a new development team for BOM and old maintenance team for COD? They aren't rewriting the game engine for the sequel. The new game engine is modular and they can update the graphic module, and sound module without rewriting the the whole game engine. The basic game engine will be the same for COD, Battle for Moscow, and each additional theater. Each sequel will only need maps and aircraft, but they will always be adding and tweaking the AI, Commands, FM, Weather, etc modules.

No they are rewriting the game engine for CloD to try and fix all the problems that the original release had.

Yeah, there's always that. Damn flies in the ointment. At this point I'll stay optomistic, though I know many are weary of UBI. I know SH5 left people with a bad taste, and rightfully so, but I'm not sure there is a more niche market than simulated U Boat commander so finances really might have palyed a roll. IDK. Ubisoft is a trainwreck. I absolutely refuse to pay full price for anything with their name on it. SH5 was embarrassing. They have no passion. Codebastards is another disaster.

reading between the lines here I think they have effectively dumped CloD and moved onto building an entirely new and more simple engine for Moscow. I doubt it will be compatible with CloD. I think we've been had fellas. +1 +2 Paul
