You'd probably want to do a tad of proofreading on the English text about the plane: http://riseofflight.com/en/store/planes/Halberstadt_CLII

Really looking forward to fly a German two-seater!

Great news indeed! biggrin

Bandy, I voted for the Halberstadt D.II. The Baron himself loved that aircraft. wink

I must be the best customer of RoF. Don't know when I last flew RoF but I buy every plane that gets out including this one wink Some day I guess I will grow tired of waiting for CoD to be fixed and then I want my hangar to be full of shiny new aircraft to fly smile

Considering that there hasn't been a single post on the SimHQ CloD page in 5 months... I think its time to turn off the life support and pronounce CloD dead... RIP.

I think you have bookmarked the old CoD page that has been locked for months then - happened to me too wink This is the right one:

http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/forums/266/1/IL_2_Sturmovik_Cliffs_of_Dover.html

It's for sure not dead and there is a new release coming in "two weeks" that is supposed to contain a major rewrite of the graphics engine... If this rewrite is of the same success as their rewrite of the sound engine in the last patch it could be interesting to say the least... But I think it's a lot harder to do a major rewrite of the graphics engine than the sound (that was done by a developer that came from the RoF team if I understand it right). Reading in the "Sukhoi.ru" forum (as the 1C English forum is out in the cold now as an official channel) it seems that the CoD team is recruiting heavily and is now a lot bigger than when they released the game so there seems to be support from 1C at least for the product. They are working on fixing the engine and the 3D guys are working on the first add-on/stand alone game that will be "Battle for Moscow" (almost officially confirmed now).

Having said that I'm really looking forward to some WWII competition in the form of "RoF 2" wink That would be sweet! And really - how hard could it be? RoF has a great engine so it's just to add planes that are a bit faster with a bit bigger guns and you are done smile

I agree with sentiments on early war aircraft to fill apparent voids (To us buffs anyhow), like the F.E.2 (From b to d revisions) F.E.8, Martinsyde`s (G.100 and so forth), D.H.4, Vickers F.B.5, Halberstadt`s, Aviatik`s, B.E 2`s, B.E 12`s, Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter`s and so forth, these aircraft were used regularily and would fill a big 1916-1917 ROF void, as further proof look at the official kill lists of WW1 aces, i.e MvR, Boelcke, Voss, Ball, Mccudden, Mannock and so forth and you`ll see what I mean, if it had a gun the British and German`s were mostly desperate enough to send it up with scant regard to the age of the aircraft! Maybe less of any sort of proof but there are dogfight stories about Vickers vs late war Fokker D.VII`s too.

For the sake of on-topic however, CL.II is ordered, thx for the heads up smile

Do you mean something else rather than the Vickers Vimy? I don't think any Vimys saw combat in WW1. Unless there was a pre-production example knocking about with a squadron or some such.

@Mogster Wow you were quick there, I only just noticed my own error rofl
I meant the Vickers F.B.5 "Gun Bus", will be correcting the error shortly, sorry for my apparent rush there smile

With the addition of the RE8 and the DFW already in the stable we at least some appropriate opponents for late 1916 forward. The RE8 can serve as a Dorand AR in drag for the French. Late war we have one French type, now two British, and with the Halberstadt two German types serving in 1918. The FE2 would make a great addition because it could serve as a Farman/Voisin in drag. We would need something on the other side as well - an Alb C.III or Aviatik C.I/C.III.

Don't mean to sound impatient, just engaging in some hopeful thinking.
