Can somebody please tell me how to close the opening scenes (the movie)and go directly to he menu when you start up the game? I can't find any reference to this procedure in the handbook and hitting the "Esc" key doesn't do the trick. Thanks.

The '-nointro' command line parameter should supress the movie too.

If you right click on the "Mig Alley" icon and select "properties" you can add this string to the "target" box (for example "C:\games\rowan\mig\migalley.exe -nointro"

I think the 085 patches also have this as a bdg.txt parameter.

I couldn't get the -nointro switch to work in the command line but editing the bdg text did the trick...FINALLY. Sigh...I spend more times trying to get these games to work the way I want 'em than I do actually playing them. But thanks a heap for getting me there.
