I'd say CFS2 had the most potential and then flopped due to a lack of patches to make the online game better. Rather than make it possible for there to be bombing and torpedo runs online Microsoft decided to kill any chance of a patch and put all their effort into CFS3. CFS3 never had any potential since the game lobby interface was rock bottom and the max number of players allowed for internet play was far to few to be usefull. Microsoft's idea to keep the civilian flight games separate from the Combat flight games was also a very poor idea. Just imagine how many more people would be playing Flight sims if it were all one community instead of a bunch of splinter groups. IL2 FB never had much potential because it is controlled by a dictator type of person who hides all files so that nothing can be verified for accuracy.

Hornet Korea (as the series is known as).

It once had much promise...

"However, now that Graphic Simulations has made the transition to a new graphics engine, I wouldn't be surprised if they had more good things up their collective sleeves! After all, everything is here, even the AI for the opposition. Moving from this package to a dynamic campaign engine is probably not far off...."

"GSC has given us some good improvements in FA18 Korea over Hornet 3. Their cockpit and avionics (except flight) are still tops. The virtual cockpit is one of the best out there, competing with the likes of Su27. If GSC expand the briefings and the command structure and do some flight model work Hornet could move into the mainstream with the likes of Su27 1.5. If they add a dynamic campaign system it could move into competition with even Su27 2.0 and Falcon 4."

...but kept being recycled until no one cared anymore. What's really sad to me is that, unlike many other older sims that I still enjoy playing, the developer (Graphsim) is still around and possibly working on the next recycle job of their '90s Hornet sim.

Two suns in the sunset, hmph

What happened to Janes A10? That could have been a decent game. Does anyone know of any good A10 games apart from Silent Thunder II (now that was a classic)?

LOMAC does the A-10 ok. it has a lot of other issues, though as regards resource requirements and the ol' starforce thing.

I agree Superhornet had alot going for it but was the biggest failure as far as flightsims go. Its campaign missions were crap.

Luftwaffe Commander - It promised so much and delivered nothing.

However, I do like to point out that it allowed Russian Front missions before Il-2 Sturmovik . . .

I can only say that there ahve been many but the one that stuck in my craw was GUNSHIP!

They seem to have misstyped the last letter of the name by about 4 places in the alphabet. I remember two things aboutnt he game, it had some wierd rubber band like modeling that made the helo 'snap back' to its normal forward position when you tried to rotate around its axis (at zero forward airspeed mind you)...and I bought it on the way home ~6pm...and returned it to EB before they closed that night.

Warbirds III. I was absolutely hooked on Warbirds I and II and spent a fortune on the subscription rates over the years. It changed ownership and the original dev team left and the one that replaced it just made promise after promise of where the sim was goign and IMO never delivered. Warbirds has just been in decline ever since IMO and has more in common with a relaxed realism console sim than the premier online sim it once was.
