I was liking the M249 as Support but now:
Class: Assault Primary Weapon: AEK-971, IRNV, silencer and grip. Side Arm: M1911 Extras: Medic pack (sometimes the M320) and defibs.

I seem to do best with the M4/Holo/Grip combination as an Engineer in Conquest mode, but I've stalled in my unlocking and play-time so there is a lot I have yet to see.
I've been liking the Medic though since I unlocked the ACOG+Heavy Barrel+M320. With the paddles, that's an excellent toolset for the attacking side of rush... good anti-camping setup. With an engineer lobbing morters behind you helped by a spotting sniper, and a couple supports (one with an LMG and one with a shotgun) in front of you, that could make short work of of a well defended MCOM.
I had totally avoided shotguns until not long ago (the default pump one, whatever that is), until one point where I was defending the last MCOM on Kharg, and found it very, very effective indoors. If I see you first (typical when defending), and we're within 20 meters, you're dead.

I think best application would be for RUSH games where you are defending team.

Engineer almost exclusively. G36...suppressor, foregrip, rifle scope (might change due to the flashlight effect) Mines, then switch to repair tool after I've got several out, if unexploded RPG or Javelin if someone is running the laser designator Explosives specialization.
Running support some, I just want to play with the mortar after a while. Hard to step away from engineer though. I can't stand not being able to screw with tanks. LOL

I've just played Assault, as I like to unlock everything per class in order (OCD, where?, let me clean it!) - M16A3 with Heavy Barrel, M145 x3.4 sight, under-barrel for quick change to the.. - M320 Grenade Launcher (Noobtube v2) - Defib (the M320 takes the Medic crate perk) For specialization I use 'Ammo' as Support people are selfish.

I've maxed out the Engineer Class. G36C + Suppressor + Scope, G18, Mines, RPG/SMAW.
Everything else is around 25-30 points.
