Long time Lurker first time poster.

So anyways....It only CTDs on the NavLog screen in the kneeboard and only with a flight plan loaded. It does it in all aircraft stock and payware. I've searched everywhere and came up with a bunch of FS9 fixes but nothing for FSX.

Any ideas at all would be helpful. My marrage cant survive another fresh install of FSX and addons.

Welcome Decus22, you should check in Windows Eventlog to see if FXS logged the reason.

MyComputer -> RightClick->Manage->EventLog->ApplicationLog

You didn't mention if you are running XP but I used to get weird FSX errors in XP with popups when I was low on memory.

Also if the problem is something that cropped up recently you may want to look and see if you added anything new that could cause it.

Windows 7 64bit

FSX installed on its own drive

it's a msvcr.dll error according to the log.

After a few failed attempts at a fix with .net framework and visual C++. I uninstalled the acceleration pack and no more NavLog CTDs.

Reinstalled Acc Pack and the CTDs came back?!?

I think I figured it out!

I need someone running the following to test this for me.

windows 7 64bit
internet explorer 9
FSX with Service pack 2 or Acceleration

select Cessna 172 stock aircraft

Create a flight plan from KOUN to KSNL direct route

Load it and have it move you to the departure airport

Once in the cockpit open the kneeboard and select Nav Log

Come back and let me know what happened

Ok I followed the test plan as you described (FSX Accel here) and no error when I open the kneeboard, even tried going up in the air and opening the kneeboard with no issues...

You are probably onto something though if you were able to get rid of the error.

It doesn't crash until I click on the Nav Log page in the kneeboard. All of the other pages in the kneeboard work fine.

I figured something out last night. I was only getting the CTD if the From -> To airport names we too long in the Nav Log.

So I streched the Kneeboard as wide as it will go before clicking on Nav Log and no CTD! Try to shrink it down...CTD!?!

This happens only after I install acceleration or service pack 2.

As a last ditch effort I'm going to backup the kneeboard files off of a fresh install. Then upgrade to acceleration and drop those files in and see what happens.

If it dosen't work at least I have a work around. I just have to remember to strech out the kneeboard before I click on Nav Log.

Thanks for testing that for me!
