i would say you can play it, but it will not look so nice as you propably will expect..... If its not urgent, perhaps wait the next patch , Luthier talked about an overworked engine. But anyway, as far as i know, its realy cheap to get in the moment - so, no loss (at least not a big one i guess ) about general playability, offline is a mess in the moment - crude AI behaviour, no working radiocommands. not to speak about the default missions/campaigns about online, the server and missionbuilder guys are still trying to get behind the secrets of the FMB..but the few (compared ti IL2 times) who are doing it are smart. So, the 'typical' dogfightservers are available.

Thanks! Anyone know where the cheapest place to buy? I saw one link a few days ago (getgame?)but the price is back to "normal..."
Also, if I upgrade, which is better CPU : AMD Phenom 965 or FX-6100?

All combat flight sims need the best computers money can buy. I've bought AMD and Intel systems depending on which is better at the time. Currently an Intel I7 cpu running with Windows 7 64 bit that can better utilize memory, with the best Nvidia card you can afford will run COD very well. COD has run very well on my system, other than known bugs. The sim is very playable and immersive On-Line, but the AI and Commands still need alot of work for quality Off-line play. The good news is the developer is working on another patch, is hiring personnel, and their mission statement is still to develop many more theaters on the new IL-2 engine. I would advise buying now and supporting the sim so that it can be completed. The investment is unbelievably cheap at under twenty bucks at a few places. I see its still 49.00 bucks on Steam. If your a real aircombat flight sim fan and want to see the developers survive I would suggest buying from Steam as the developer will see alot more money than if you bought it for twelve dollars somewhere else. I know many cant afford it, but most of us here are older with more expendable income and understand its an expensive hobby. Its has cost the developers millions just to get to this stage, so their definitely not going to be enough twelve dollars sales in this small genre to keep the development solvent. No pressure .

Hi Combat99 !I was struggling with an old system when COD first was realeasd.Ive waited for this sim(Storm of War) for two years and found my PC coulnt run it so I spent 3 months trying to get my PC to run it ! I ugraded the PC and spent(still) tuning everything to get the Best COD experience.......I just finished a sortie on ATAG server in a 109,I tangled with a human Spit(he crashed),shot down a Wellington and made a run for home! As I was flying low and fast at wavelevel looking at the ships, waves, cliffs ahead I thought every cent Ive spent to get COD running like this (with bugs) was so worth it !......But like Chivas said, the 60 bucks i paid for the game is not much to pay for the hundreds of hours of enjoyment, also the last thing any of us "pilots" want to see is another flight sim developer go broke !...Spend the money, you wont be sorry ! ~S~

Man in Oz we had to pay 109 dollars on release day.And i am happy with that as i will probably get a 5-7 year run out of it like i did with the il2 series. Dive in Combat99, you didn't make 98 mistakes did you? if it is WW11 specific era you are looking for , still needs work but there is a lot of fun to be had, offline is a bit of a rats nest regards comms and other issues mentioned but it is a glorious looking game and has a nice curve of scalability for all simmers. Sounds are much improved, fps are much improved, models are lovely, terrain is pretty damn nice, sea is beautiful, skies are very deep and immersive although too much cloud cover can bring the fps way down, cockpits are beautiful and there is enough going on in the cockpit alone to keep you busy before you actually worry about engaging in combat. Plenty of people here to help you get the game playable and looking good.

LOL. No, I'm a bit out of touch. Haven't even talked to anyone at Thrustmaster in a few years now. Fun days helping them get the COUGAR HOTAS out the door in the early 2000s. And wow.. the old archive articles are still around too http://www.combatsim.com/memb123/htm/2002/04/cougar/Does Crash still show up around here (Crenshaw)?

Wow, I can't recall the last time I saw Crash here. I saw Andy post a month or so back I think, first time in a LONG time for him.

I have my settings on pretty much full. Land shading is on low though. It's very playable and I'm happy with flying it on this setting.
