I flew a lot of Falcon4 a few years ago and now I'm thinking of giving it another try. So - Falcon4 AF? Freefalcon? Or BMS?

I think I've settled on BMS but my last dicouragement is the lack of 2d cockpit. Is it flyable without TrackIR - can it be used with snap-views only?

Thanks.

Just because there's no 2D cockpit doesn't mean there's no 2D cockpit functionality. The "2" view gives you the snap views using the 3D cockpit, and I think it looks better than the 2D cockpit, especially with the new lighting effects.

The only thing to be missed is the kneeboard, but that is a planned re-insertion in a future patch. In the meantime, you can use Weapon Delivery Planner and print out your kneeboard or display it on a second monitor. If you have a notebook, you can use WDP in networked mode as well.

You can totally fly it without Track IR. Give it a shot. Though, save up some money and get Track IR when you can because it makes a huge improvement to your SA.

God TrackIR is a must. Really is, makes the whole experience so much more real. So natural to look about with your head than using a HOTAS hat.

I have trackIR and am also comfortable using the hat snap and panning. The notion that one somehow needs tracIR to fly BMS is patently absurd. Sure it's nicer with trackIR but it is not necessary. I you are comfortable w snap viewspanning padlocking or any combination there of you will stilldo well. And anyway the program is free. Dl and see for yourself.
