I want to pre-order this sim? ASAP.
Could one of you guys let me know if the water is dynamic?
I read the review but, must have missed the reviewer's take on the the water
environment. I also haven't seen anyone's take on the water.

The water looked great! By "dynamic" do you mean having an animated surface, like wave action? To be honest, I don't recall whether that detail was there or not, but the overall effect while cruising low around the Sound was pretty nice.

I also didn't check to see how downwash affects water, although it does kick up clouds of dust on the ground.

Thanks EinsteinEP,

I downloaded it last night.
This weekend I'll be picking up a copy of ARMA2 OA at Best buy.
That's all of the "software" requirements right?
My system is running at a smooth 4.4Ghz with 8 GBs of 2300GHz ram so,
I should be fine?

I like your handle: what do you think of E=hv http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planck_constant

Sounds like you've got a great processor/RAM base: I wouldn't expect any issues based on that. What video card are you running?

Planck's constant relates energy and frequency of electromagnetic radiation by a proportional constant: 6.62607 *10^-34 Js. Pretty useful when studing energy at the quantum level, but not so handy when settling with power. wink

I expect you'll smoke this game quite nicely.

I've got an i7 950 and an EVGA 470GT and I got pretty solid performance. My frame rates were on low side (20-30) of great performance, but I had all the graphics options on. I also always expect frame rates to get better between betas and final releases: last minute code cleanup and optimization.

Hi mate,
just a question, why do you think ARMA2 OA is a "software" requirement?
Take On Helicopters is a stand-alone game and doesn't need any version of ARMA2.

There was a community preview, which was basically a mod for ARMA2 OA that introduced the new helo flightmodel,
but the Beta you get by pre-ordering the game is stand-alone as well.

I'm not trying to talk you out of buying ARMA2 OA though, get it, it's a great game. wink

Hi Staggolee,

I think it was mentioned in a post somewhere here which I came across as I was looking into buying the game.
Thanks for the info although, I've already installed ARMA2 OA and, Take on Helicopters.
A misunderstanding on my part.
I am going slow due to personal issues plus I don't wnat to upset Flyboy too much Smile2.

Hi EinsteinEP,
I somehow missed your post the last time. On full blast -~10% I am breezing.
Got to learn the flight model though as, I've spun in about 10 times aleady by my guesstimate!

O.K. I finally realized that I was spinning out due to leaving the "mouse-controller-bindings".
Once I disabled those mouse settings, everything was fine.
I knew I wasn't that bad.. I've been simming too long to suck so badly biggrin.
Looking forward to the next update from the devs.
