Very new to this sim so please bear with me.
I just got my TIR working tonight. Previously the top left hat on the stick was view control. I guess it detected the TIR and disabled the view control? I never experienced this before but the plane wanted to pitch up the whole flight. I guess I need to manually assign the trim commands to the top right hat now but, I am not using a Warthog config file, just the auto detect mappings. Is it a simple matter of going into the config and change the button mappings? Will that screw up the auto config?
Thanks!

Hmm...I have a Warthog HOTAS and a TrackIR and the default mapping for the Trim hat was view control for me. A quick series of clicks in on the controls page did the trick for me, although the diagonals on the Trim hat seem to still be mapped to view controls.

UTR, congrats on the TIR. Last time I had to setup my game was in Beta, so not sure about the autodetect funtions now. What I had to do at that time was remove all the "VIEW" functions from the hat and then reassign the up/down/left/right of the hat to the proper trim functions. Aside from that, I was good! And yes, if you don't re-assign them, you can still be looking forward and the hat will still move your view around. Very disorenting!

The default is to hold ctrl and move the Hat for trim but you can just delete the cntrl part in Target and that way you only have to move the hat to trim.

With a Track IR, I recommend clearing out *all* the view assignments to the Trim Hat and setting the primary functions of this POV switch to the four Trim functions. Here's a post that has a bunch of other re-assignments to consider - Option Changes Wrecking Crew

What is your PTT Kylania? 4-way comms hat (up) on the throttle? Mine is the pinkie, but I like your 0-trim on it.

I plan on doing most of my playing online, it would be nice to be able talk to my sqd mates w/o having to take my hands off of the sticks. I will look into those other mods as well. Much obliged

The paddle switch makes a good PTT button as well (what I do).
I've got a bad feeling about this.....

My PTT button was Mic IN, which I think is closer to how it is in real life (Mic Up/Down/Fore/Aft). That's what I plan to use if ever I get good enough to go online. I was surprised more people didn't say that.

Rusty don't be afraid to play online based on your skill level. I'm a total noob still and still fly 95% online only. At least online with the right group of buddies you have someone to learn from and to ask questions to. Rather than trying to figure it out on your own.

I, for one, welcome noobs to teach. A long time ago, I asked a simple, newbie question and was rudely replied to with "RTFM!" so I swore I'd never say that to anyone new to any sim, and to help out as much as I can.

Yeah that's BS and just not right! There is a reason most of us are flying a simulator and not the real thing..........

There's a lot to learn offline with the manuals, but you'll pick it up quicker if you combine it with online instruction and flying IMO. Cheers Nutty
