For some reason I cannot get the Maverick (BMS) to lock on to a target. I can get the optics cooled (or warmed or whatever) and get the image in the MFD, but I thought the Maverick sensor automatically locked on to a target when you put the cursor over it. I'm in BORE and am slewed over the target but I never get a lock..

What am I doing wrong?

duh

Hit INS on your numeric keyboard and it will lock smile Sometimes you need to hit it a few times before it reacts.

Don't forget you need to use TMS up twice. First time stabilizes the Maverick for slewing, the second time locks the target. You also need something with definition that the seeker head can pick up: sharp corners for the TV variants, and heat signatures for the IR variants.

In the A-10C, consent is given to the AGM-65 when the slew command input stops. This may not be the same on the F-16. TMS up may also do the trick.

edit: HomeFries beat me to it.

Yeah.. You know, I think what might have been causing me a problem was the profile I'm using for the X-52 has zoom level or something mapped to the slider, and I think I was getting some "jiggly" input from the slider that was canceling out or causing other commands not to register (some of the time). The double TMS up seems to work fine now..

screwy

Thanks for the tips..it confirmed that what I was doing was right..it just wasn't working - that is always frustrating! biggrin

I heard point track mode is bugged and doesn't work. But area mode is good enough because you can zoom in. I've only fired a few , it worked for me in area mode.

Beach, make sure your MFD's are set up correctly. I was having the same problem with the HARMS, and was directed to a thread at Benchmark sims. I was just trying to link you to it, but now I can't get in. My password isnt working, or I've forgotten it!
They've messsed up a bit and you have to go in and set them up correctly. The thread is titled "If your mfd's are going blank" , or something along those lines. See if that's your problem.
